Looking to get into photography

Yeah, good point. Perhaps I should look at something that I can wear over my shoulders. Any recommendations?

Any backpack style bag, really. Or something that you can switch shoulders with. But you really have to decide - how long will you be wearing it at a time? I have mine on my back for around 40 minutes twice a day (on my commute), and then several hours at a time when I go out shooting, so it does make a difference. But then, I also have heavy glass (24-105L and Sigma 10-20mm together are heavy), and I tend to take both bodies and all my lenses with me.

Good point, but I do feel that I'd rather have a shoulder bag than a strap/sling.

Start off with something small - you wont have a lot of gear and until you're an addict lugging around a giant case might put you off.

Amongst my collection I've got something a little smaller than this which I still use all the time. My Sigma 28-300 just fits nicely with space for batteries, cards, a filter, and my rizlas.

True. I'm just trying to think ahead. In a few months time, I might need something bigger, in which case, I would've wasted R300 on a bag when I could've spent another R300 and got a nice big bag. That bag in the link looks pretty decent.

I have three bags atm and I still use them all. It shouldnt go to waste.

+1 I have the same, one, just the bigger model so I can have the 40+ 24-105L and the Sigma 10-20mm at the bottom - fits nicely. I have a smaller version too that I bought when I had the Pentax K100D Super. I still have it, use it either with the K1000, or if I'm carrying the 40D with one of the shorter lenses, it's a tight fit but it goes in.

I have a total of 5 bags, and I'm eyeing another... :)

Lol, damn! I assume you keep certain lenses in certain bags and just move the 40D to the relevant bag of whichever lenses you will be using on the day?

LOL, no. My lenses stay stored away in my closet when they're not in use. Camera spends most of the time with one or two lenses (usually one prime and one zoom) in my Fastpack. I use the Crumpler Pretty Boy more when I go shooting/travelling as it's more convenient to get stuff in and out. But then I don't have all my kit with me. The only bag right now that will fit absolutely everything (minus my K1000's 28-210 zoom), is the LowePro.

The last thing that was stored in my LowePro Rezo toploader bag, was a bottle of Absolute Vodka :D

Top one is the Lowepro EDIT 160 and the knapsack is the Kata R101 - even has space for a small laptop in the back but my 17" MBP really isnt designed for that :) I've got my hand out for my mothers smaller MB when she retires it at the end of the year :D
