Looking to open FNB share account

Thanks for everything , I'm looking at the share builder account https://www.fnb.co.za/share-investing/share-builder.html

I want them to select the shares and stuff since im pretty much clueless..

Do you think it's worth it?

How much are you planning on investing? If you can build up a saving of around R 10k you can get trading companies to do trading for you and you don't have to do it through FNB ;) If you want to start with a small monthly amount then the Share builder is probably the best one.

I want to put a lumpsum of 3k and forget about it,but I don't know where - any ideas/suggestions?

No monthly contribution...

FNB sharebuilder will kill, burn and bury you on monthly and trading fees. (R19 monthly + 2% trading fee!!)

Look at EasyEquities, seriously

R3K is not worth it. You need to be putting R3K a month into shares. Better off looking at SATRIX then. Remember when it comes to shares never invest what you cannot afford to loose - and trust me, I've learn't the hard way to say bye bye to that money as my share portfolio is trading 17% in the red.

Really appreciate your advice, looks like when I start earning I will put some money into shares ...

He's quite possibly Muslim and they are not allowed to earn interest?

As long as he remembers he needs to offset it by inflation ;) pretty sure thats allowed. The remaining 'calculated interest' accrued can then be disposed of indirectly as a donation without benefit (Muslim people have different forms of donations, interest related donations can only be used for certain things and doesn't have karma points (for lack of a better way of saying it)). i.e. Just means lot of admin work he has to put in

Hey guys , I'm currently a student at uni and have about 2-3k to invest but I don't know where to start. Some of my requirements are :

-The bank/company must manage my portfolio
- no interest must be earned
- low monthly account fees
- tax free if possible

Would really appreciate some feedback

For that amount of money I would first put R2500 into an ABSA stockbrokers tax free savings account, then you can buy any ETF you like. Lower costs than easy equities, 0.2% rather than 0.25%. If you have any more money left over then put it into a regular easy equities stock broker account.
