Loot.co.za Trustworthy?

I can vouch for them. picked up a few things at their office in westlake business park

Definitely legit, one of my favourites since they seem to have quite a large selection of goods.

I have ordered from Loot a few times. Nothing but great service. Ran into a problem with them once when I ordered a monitor online. The monitor was out of stock and they could not get any of the same ones. They gave me a better and more expensive monitor for the same price. They really are awesome.

Hello all,

Anyone bought from Loot.co.za before? Any troubles I should know of?
They got a Dell monitor I'm looking for at the most inexpensive price so far.

Thank you.

I've used them less than I should have, but they're a really great [online] shop with good a variety of products, and decent prices and service.

Never had any issues ordering from loot.

They've been around for a long time.

yip also ordered and very happy with the service and pricing

Hell takealot asked me to cancel because supplier out of stock.
Was a bit unimpressed but will find something to spend my refunded credit on.

Tracking delivery poor in cf to takealot. Kalahari one was quite good.

My Experience with Loot.co.za

Although it is some time ago that I fought with Loot.co.za and got my refund for a TV that failed within 6 months of purchase, I want to give a "heads up" by relating my experience as a warning to buyers to be ready to fight for their rights if they want to return faulty goods. Here it is:

I took delivery of a Samsung TV in early June 2015. In mid September it started to randomly turn off and on. Shipped TV back (not in original packaging) and told them I wanted a replacement.

They appeared to be happy with this, contacting me saying that they would refund me as the model was no longer available. But TV had to be sent to supplier for evaluation. 2 weeks after it was sent for evaluation I had not heard from them so I contacted them. They then came back saying:

"As the unit was not returned in it's original packaging, our suppliers were not able to provide a refund. They needed to send the unit to the Samsung agent for repair and this caused a delay.

They have assured us that your unit has been repaired and should be arriving back at their offices but, latest, Monday. We will then arrange to collect it from them. "

Section 56 (2) of the Consumer Protection Act, No 68 of 2008 reads as follows:

“Within six months after the delivery of any goods to a consumer, the consumer may return the goods to the supplier, without penalty, and at the supplier’s risk and expense, if the goods fail to satisfy the requirements and standards contemplated in section 55 (Consumers rights to safe, good quality goods) and the supplier must, at the direction of the consumer, either:

Repair or replace the failed, unsafe or defective goods, or
Refund to the consumer the price paid by the consumer for the goods.”

Note that nowhere does it say" must be in original packaging".
Note that Loot.co.za did not give me a choice of repair, replace or refund.

What was extra disappointing is that Loot.co.za was happy to push a repaired TV on me as their supplier didn't want to give a refund. As their customer, I would have hoped that they would argue with the supplier on my behalf. Only after I refused to take the repaired TV was I refunded.

How does Loot work? I ordered an item from them on the 24th and it said "usually dispatches within 7-11 days". The estimated dispatch time is the 8th of June (15 days later) and estimated delivery time is the 13th (20 days later).

Is this normal for Loot? If so I won't order from them again. Ain't nobody got time to wait that long.

Well I ordered a power bank when it was on special and it was dispatched the same day. Really impressed.

7-11 working days.

Fair enough. Still seems very slow, though? I assume with delivery timeframes like that they order directly from international suppliers?

Still, estimated means they might deliver early. Will report back on the actual date of delivery.

My order arrived a week before the time they said it would.

I think like most online retailers in SA they carry the bulk of their own products on offer, which will arrive in 1-3 days and then have 3rd party retailers to pad out their catalogue with other products to not have money on the "shelf" but still have a large catalogue.

I find it odd that Makro do the same thing for their "online exclusive" items. I ordered a air purifier that said it would take up to 21 working days to arrive, in the end it took 2 weeks which is odd when you consider how big of a company Makro is.
