Loot Systems

I like loot council. Yes its not perfect and relies a lot on how fair your officers are and how well they track everything but it does work.

Loot master + Need roll and Greed roll works perfectly.

Loot master links the item then says "Need roll"

people /roll

If there is no one he will say "Greed roll" (Only for off-spec) if no one rolls, it gets DE'd and added to the guild bank.

Keep in mind that loot systems very much depend on your guild and your guild objectives.

I would guess the reason Pitbull is advocating need/greed rolls is mostly because he comes from more social guilds which are generally larger and have a higher rotation for raids. In that situation a DKP system would not work and it would be very difficult to maintain a loot council.

A lot of us come from raiding orientated guilds where our primary focus is raiding. Such guilds tend to have smaller teams and have low rotations and therefore DKP or loot council are far more viable. The reason we personally use loot council is to push progression - we prioritize biggest upgrade for the most part to ensure that each piece of loot benefits the team to the maximum.

I agree 100%

we use dkp and common sense. Actually found the hardest part is getting to people to spend the dkp, instead of saving it. We have rule that you dont get more than 1 item off a boss, unless noone wants it. Also initiates can only get an item if a full member doesnt want it. There are exceptions, such as a rare mount etc. Something like that is available for anyone who doesnt have it and cost no dkp. Its based on roll. Interest for dkp based item is shown by rolling for the item. RL checks dkp. We always roll on Tier tokens first :)

Loot council is bias , no matter how you look at it, item value dkp doesnt scale well, basically either old members get all the gear or new members get nothing, why would I join a guild if old members get all the loot before I even have a fair shot at it after proving myself?

best system - bidding dkp, sure it has some flaws but if you scale it properly and do some basic math work you will see it scales easily.

"Loot Council" Basically the officers/Class mentors decide.

Never had any problems with the system although being a progression guild helps since you will get what you want within a few weeks anyway. Guess people start crying about gear when they are slow to kill bosses.

Council considerations include; value of upgrade, recent attendance, progression requirement etc.

my old guild had a force system where you must spend dkp to get a item if we think it is a good upgrade to stop items going for disenchant, worked quite well with loot council etc.
