Is there any alternative to amphetamines that will help me stay awake and possibly aid weight loss?

I've tried a whole whack of different appetite suppressants & vitamin combinations (vitB, vitB comlpex, berocca etc etc) but very few of them work. I should probably mention that I am on medicine that a) makes me incredibly tired; b) causes carb cravings; c) effects my 'i'm full' switch & lastly d) slows down my thyroid (which isnt helping with the weight issue). These are not meds I would ever consider changing despite the side effects. I'd rather be fat and semi-sane than skinny and completely off my nutter...

Having said that though, it would be superfabulous to find a way to counteract the side effects. Any ideas?

Eat plenty barracuda and hope for ciguatera poisoning - worked for me. However insomnia is no fun at all - as much as I find sleep to be the most unproductive activity any human could do (apart from posting on an internet forum), it is also the most frustrating thing I've ever had to deal with. I also find myself snacking more now that I am awake for 20 hours a day - not the other way round...

The meds I take at night are far stronger than anything that may keep me awake during the day. On a good day I can be 'conscious' after 8 hours of having taken them. Most days though they knock me out for 10+ hours. I'm sure you can imagine how frustrating this is - if (as happens quite frequently) I get less than 10 hours sleep in a night I'm usually a complete zombie until at least midday...

What to do :/

Sounds like you are on some serious meds, i would rather consult a doctor/pharmacist for something to counter this.
If/when i can afford it i use the gnld supplement range to combat a whole whack of ailments i have been told i have, about the best i have used, but very pricey.

Geez. Nasty. Is that what caused/causes your insomnia?

I actually overheard a 20something girl at Kauai on the weekend telling her friend how great the stomach bug she had the week before had been because she lost 3kgs in 5 days.

She mostly lost liquids though, so she'll pick up very quickly. Very little fat lost.

Yup no point thinking 3kgs of liquid is a good thing, it will be back soon.

Why not exercise? and eat some carbs, have you ever thought you are so tired all the time because your not eating carbs, carbs give us a energy and people who cut carbs out their diet are only hurting their bodies, everything in moderation and exercise should see you maintain and possibly lose weight.

So, back to the topic *glares at DJK & alf101* Just got a script from my local, easily manipulated GP.

Hooray for schedule 6 d-nor-psuedo ephedrine :D

Sounds like you are doing yourself harm.

This thread caused me to make tuna sandwiches for myself for lunch.

She lost fluid, not fat!
