from my last post in thread http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?p=3386741#post3386741

So I did a test sending an email from gmail to the iburst address and a cc to my mtnloaded email.

In about 4-6 seconds after pressing send, I received an sms from mtnloaded to let me know that about this new mail in my inbox. I have not received the one to iburst address.

I rather receive messages a few hours late, than them to never arrive, and the sender being unaware that the message has failed.

I was following my unisa results recently, they were released as subjects became available. All mails come to the unisa mylife account, and I have setup mail fowarding from there to my gmail, and iburst email addresses (working well since Feb)

I have received on the mylife ( and gmail ) messages for the 5th, 10th, 12th, and 14th but on my iburst I only received messages 05th and 10th Dec. I know the iburst has definitely lost some messages. I was monitoring incoming messages on the 14th on my phone, so I know it was not my PC and LAN server setup/rules/spam filters.

Worse, I wished this chick on her b'day, and the iburst network was down for 3 hours and I assumed she had not replied and made a fool of myself. Because iburst is definitely loosing messages ( the message does not come back undelivered ).

Am I the only one having this problem? Or just the only one to notice?

"We have received some recent bounces from your address. Your current bounce score is 1.0 out of a maximum of 5.0. Please double check that your subscribed address is correct and that there are no problems with delivery to this address. Your bounce score will be automatically reset if the problems are corrected soon"

I know of 5 more lost messages between the new year and the 5th. Reading through LANSUITE logfiles I know that the mail servers have had some downtime/connectivity problems ( in the old days, the iburst website will mention an incident report, now it is not updated on error).

We are a business, and loosing emails may be critical. This really sucks.

You never use this word so please spell "losing" correctly from now on.

Sorry to have to post my first spelling Nazi post on myBB ever here...

THANK YOU! In the last 6 months everyone seems to be writing 'loosing'. THE WORD YOU ARE LOOKING FOR IS LOSING.
L-O-S-I-N-G. You are losing the match, you are losing your talent, you are losing your virginity! The second definition is wrong, you would say 'loosening'
Newspaper Executive: Cristiano, this is the last straw, 'loosing' is not a word! I'm firing you!

Cristiano Ronaldo: Oh, I didn't know I had to be able to spell to do this job, I guess i'm just an idiot! Haha"

Option 3 on that link I'm not even going to quote here - check it out yourself if you are really that curious.

eMails

Vis1/0N,
Please PM me your email address and we will investigate.

Why is that you are only replying to some posts & not others?

88RSI,
Will deal with all posts. If you have an urgent issue please PM me.

Ok will do so but have to add I thought that what the forum was for to bring to light problems that other users might also be dealing with instead of dealing with problems with a one on one basis via PM.

Well JeanetteR confirmed that mails from early December just came through to her recently http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=211879

So it is not just me ( but I expect most of you will not be aware of missing messages unless the sender contacts you and lets you have it about not responding ...). I have not received the missing messages as yet, I got PM, but I expect I am in the queue ... maybe.

Vis1/ON,

Not only did I receive a lot of e-mails very late, I also lost e-mails which I sent and only became aware of the problem when people phoned me to enquire. I assume that Iburst experienced smtp-server problems. Although, when I queried this with iBurst HelpDesk, they never responded.

For future reference....

Wish I could correct the title to the thread ...

Anyway after sending another PM I received a call from 'wish I could remember her name'. She was pleasant, and knowledgeable and I was able to speak to her about some technical stuff without losing(!) her. We narrowed it down to the spam folder ... some of my messages where getting caught by the spam filter and not getting through to us.

My email gets collected every 5 minutes by LanSuite 602 and the users login to the Lansuite to collect the emails. The Spam does not get downloaded - it seems that the spam folder needs to be monitored by logging in via the webmail interface, and clicking on the second Spam folder. In the 4 1/2 years with iburst, I have been unaware of this feature.

There were 1500+ messages in the spam folder since 31 December, mostly Viagra stuff . There were 46 false positives though. Wesbank, Absa statements, random messages from friends, some from the mailing lists that I normally receive everyday. Some from new clients requesting contact details, and 2 from a customer who had the bank auditor sitting waiting for some documents from us....

The stuff before 31 December ? Deleted, lost forever? Anyway - who knew about monitoring this spam folder? For unread messages Inbox will show 14 messages etc. But the tree view does not show that the spam folder has unread items.
