Hi guys.

Hope someone can help me on where to start. Currently when my phone rings or when I phone out, my line loses sync and out goes my interwebz. I can see this on the router. First the DSL light goes and then the Internet light goes. It then takes like 1-2 mins to come back up, and someone it doesn't, in which case the Internet light stays red on my router.

I googled a bit, and tried replacing the pots filter with a brand new one but that doesn't seem to be the problem. If I disconnect my telephone + filter + router (meaning nothing connected in house) and I phone my number, it rings. I cannot understand how that is possible.

Has anyone experienced something similar or has some idea of where I can start with getting Telkom to look at this?

I am a bit reluctant to just phone the Telkom call centre and be told something silly as its something I am doing

Thanks :)

happened to me when my inside wiring of my house was old and crap , eventually everything died (adsl and phone), phoned telkom , they replaced my whole house with the new cable for free.

Through this probably not your problem if you have new cabling inside your home.

I had 2 thin wires from back in the days , now i have 4 wires covered with thinker black plastic.

If you phone a Telkom line that has no equipment connected to it, it will always ring (from the callers perspective), there's nothing strange about that.

You have a fault somewhere on your line. It could be anywhere between your house and the exchange. You need to log a fault with Telkom and get a technician to come out and sort it out.

Cool. Thanks for help

Hi There,
You will need to get Telkom in to sort this out. Remember that once you have a fault logged with Telkom then you can claim your line rental back for the period that the line is not in operation. Hence the reason why it is important to log the call. Telkom is pretty easy to log calls these days and they are a lot better than they used to be in responding.

Good luck

Tim
