Losing Your License Disc

The car was taken off the road because it's not roadworthy, but you need it for the weekend, so you just want to get a copy of the disk? Good luck with that...

In KZN - I have also had a reprint. If memory serves I had to pay for the copy only.
They couldnt have been bothered with the affadavit.

Anyway - glad you got sorted, and should have slapped the bum handling your car. :)

It was just the lights. It had a greenish glow, needs to be clear white. Mechanic will do roadworthy tomorrow once completed with service. Mechanic and Roadworthy test center are close to each other. I'm picking up car after work.

If I can have the disk reprinted at any traffic department I can maybe also fit it in tomorrow.

Why did they have a greenish glow? What was wrong with them? :eek:

There were green rubbers pulled over the bulbs. They were like this when I bought the car. I never bothers to check or have it removed. If I new this I would have removed them on the spot :(

Odd. I would have removed it the moment I saw it. Who wants greenish lights? :confused: But anyway, so you learn.
 
I have misplaced my receipt for the previous licence disc, am I also going to need an affidavit? I'm probably going to have way less friendlier eyes peering through the mask than you did! Do you know if I can still go to the post office to renew the current one? It's expiring soon

You don't need the previous licence disc receipt to renew your disc.

Maybe this will help you. I got this SMS yesterday form the RMTC. All license disks that expired after March 26 have been extended to end August All you need is your renewal notice and aa copy of your ID.

CxxxxxFS now expires on 31/08/2020. Please visit https://online.natis.gov.za/#/E1D2 or https://tinyurl.com/y7r34auf to download your notice.

I believe it's handy to have the receipt if you lose the actual disk.

Yes I download and printed all three renewal notices (car caravan and double cab) with no problem. I am just waiting for the post office to quite down a bit. After all I have until August 30 to renew.

Come to think of it choose your email add for the one time pin. That way it sends the renewal notice via email. I seem to remember now that using the SMS option also giving me a problem. The notice you down load is the same AARTO notice they send out via the post and I think it is too large to SMS. I did mine about 3 weeks ago.
 
Yup. My annual car tax (called a "licence" in SA) was due at end May. I downloaded the renewal notices from the Natis website, paid over the amounts due to my local municipality, and collected the licence discs two days later.

The payment reference for the EFT to municipality was the renewal notice reference number. Check with your licensing dept what they require.

At collection, all they wanted was a printout of the renewal notice and ID.

The Covid thingie seems to have added three months to the validity period - the new discs expire end August 2021.
