At my friend's work they use Lotus Notes for their work & personal emails.

As I'm not familiar with Lotus Notes, is that emails saved on her pc or on the server? According to her after I sent her, all her folders is empty.

1) Could it be a virus, on my side the scan was okay.
2) Could the IT dept. delete it from their side?
3) Has it just moved to some weird place, we don't know about?

Probably some setting that deletes the mail. I just logged into one of our systems that uses Lotus Notes (v7) and all the mail is still there, there are even some from as far back as 2002.

Okay, so it won't be the IT dept? lol :D

Just weird that it happened through the day, not at an specific time or over night.

Where will she look for this setting?

1. possible
2. possible
3. lotus notes works on ID file authentication
The ID file is located in the \notes\data folder (most probably, as per default)

As most popular mail applications, the mailfile can reside locally (if the server copy has been replicated), and will sit on a server (as backup) and speedier mail receives/sends. Depending on the infrastructure, a lotus notes ID can be re obtained from the domino server if the ID file cannot be located.

Let me know if you run into problems accessing the server copy.
PM me your details and I'll give you a call to help you troubleshoot it

we also use Lotus Notes.... for us, depends on the user... if its an office bound pc, the mail file is accessed from the server, for laptop users a local copy is also on the laptop, for use when out-of-office.
hmmm, mails 'dissapearing' after viewing? I get that sometimes from some of the users... :p
Is the setting on Lotus client to view all? If its on "view unread only" it shows new mails, and when u view it, it 'dissapears' , looking like folder is empty.
Check under View, view all, to show read and unread. For some of our users, it seems, the 'fairies' sometimes change the setting, just to screw with their minds :)
I personally don't like Lotus, we've been using it for about 5 years now, due to it forced down from parent company in France. But its more complicated to customise, etc, and not really compatible with all the programs' mail functions yet. (Microsoft wanting to rule all :D )
