Hi guys,

I just joined the realm of users using a VPS.

I'm most likely going to move my shared hosting over to a VPS and do my own hosting via one of the open source panels (or not, depends if I help friends and family).

I'll most likely document the use of the panels / installation (if anyone is interested).

On a side note:

Check here for VPS specials:

This is the product I took:
http://lowendbox.com/blog/christmas...r-128mb-and-more-openvz-vps-in-dallas-and-la/

Took the 128MB special - $8 a year, as i'm just testing currently and seeing how their functionality with spinning up / switching OS's suits me.

I'll most likely move over to the 6GB RAM special for my actual hosting, it has some restrictions like you can't make the CPU's for more than 2 hours in a row, you can't torrent or host a VPN service etc. As it's going to be used for hosting / my own DNS these aren't really concerns for me. I may also host my own Unotelly like service for personal use, to get around Netflix / Hulu geo restrictions.

I hope this helps somebody!

Cheers,

Damn that is "blerry" cheap! If you get a chance, please document ISPconfig :)

Also, let us know if you do take the 6gb ram vps and how it pans out...

Loving vpsdime at this point in time.

I log a ticket and 1 minute later (no lies) its resolved.

It's run by Oktay Kilic.

He manages and runs, Backupsy (High Storage/Backup VPS), Cloudive (Premium Cloud VPS), Winity.io (Hyper-V Windows VPS) and Getdedi (Budget VPS Nodes for VPS Providers) along with VPSDime (High Resource Budget VPS)

It really is SOLID so far. I'm loving it. Best R90 I ever spent.

Testing VestaCP (tried Zpanel but it spammed out CPU and was buggy) and if solid i'm moving my Hostgator shared hosting in to my own environment on a VPS (personal stuff so it's not mission critical etc). I'm also going to use it for a personal VPN / Proxy / DNS workaround for Netflix and Hulu.

So, any verdicts on the 128Mb ram box you are using? I'm really wanting to get a decent VPS provider.

How does the load restrictions work exactly? "Your VPS should not have a load of 4 for more than one hour, or your VPS will get restarted."

Also, I have no idea if that load restriction is reasonable as I have read some forums indicating that some VPS'es of a load 20 or less is good?

I've only had 1 issue with high load and that was when a fresh ZPanel install got hacked. BIND went up to 100% usage and they rebooted my VM as I wasn't near a PC. Other than that nothing.

Service is GREAT.

Load of 4 = 4vCPU , so in other words don't max CPU, if you do they let you do so for 2 hours I think then its a reboot. Read their FAQ.
