Low network rates don't mean low prices

Interesting article indeed.

I wonder what percentage of Telkom's *spit* profit is made up of interconnection fees?
It must be in their interest to keep these costs down to encourage other operators to use its network rather than build their own.

Actually it's in their interest to keep costs high to leech out as much profit as possible :(
 
There must be a threshold where as a client it becomes more cost effective to have your own network though rather than interconnect. Also as a provider, keeping as many customers as you can on the network (rather than them using an alternative) that you charge interconnect fees to, so it has to be calculated robbery :)
