Hi there. Looking for some opinions and suggestions please. Need to fit a Poweredge R320 with a new GPU for work. Requirements are to support 1920x1080 and cheapest option. From the technical data it looks like it has to adhere to a low profile to fit as well.

Thanks

All I need is 1920x1080 and low profile. You don't think that's perhaps oversizing some? Boss said to try for the cheapest available
Question is whether you need GPU or an ordinary VGA card. You get plenty second hand VGA cards R50 up.

If you need GPU or a video playing, stick to GT 1030 as advised. It support all video formats up to 4K. It turns your PC into a monster media box.

One note. If you chose fanless GT 1030, be aware that radiator takes two cards slot, so check a space on your PC. You can get a card with a fan that takes only one slot.

Appreciate the replies thanks. Dont need anything fancy. Just HD resolution to display certain graphics non distorted.

Then an ordinary second hand low profile VGA card is a solution. Will check what I have in my bin.
Do you have PCI slot on the mobo? Also important what OS is running.

Wow that's mighty nice of u thank you. There is a pci slot yea, I think it's a 16x. And it's running server 2008 r2

These are PCIe slots, not PCI. From the spec:
2 PCIe slots
• 1 x8 slot with x4 bandwidth, 2.0, half-height, half-length
• 1 x16 slot with x16 bandwidth, 3.0, full-height, half-length
You can get new low profile cards based on NiVidia GT210 or GT610 below R700. Nothing cheaper is on sale currently. Google for these GT's.

I have one GT610 card, used only for few months, but it doesn't belong to me. I will ask the owner whether he wants to sell it. PM if you want.

EDIT: The card has DVI and HDMI ports on the low profile bracket, VGA port is on a secondary bracket.

Appreciate the effort thank you. I was contacted by our internal IT saying they might have some spares, going to see what that leads to, if no luck will get back to you thank you!

If you get a 1030, try and make sure you get the non-DDR4/GDDR5 version, about a 50% performance difference. They should also be the same price.

The DDR4 1030 should still be stronger than e.g. the GT 710/610/210 though.

Main reason to get the 1030 over them even with a slight price premium (second hand market should make those way cheaper though) is if you're doing any video playback due to the hardware decoder support for HEVC and VP9.
That's if your CPU doesn't support it.

If you just need it to act for displaying the GUI for managing the server, no point in going for it.

I have an AMD Radeon R5 340X if you are interested, not asking much.

See images for reference.

And I'm back... So the results completely disintegrated my hopes for resolving this issue. GPU I was issued turned out to be a 16x PCIe.. And the slot was a 4x PCIe.. Was left with IT standing there heckling me but also not having any solution to offer. I've since started speculating if it's possible to change the PCI riser from a 4x to a 16x for Dell machines. Anyone have any of those?
Thank you

Is a riser card plugged into 16x slot on the motherboard? Then speak to Dell.

Do you mean PCIe x1?
