Lower back pain

I have the same issue, strained my back last year carrying something heavy. Slightly to the one side of my lower spine its a dull ache when i bend certain ways or get up / pick something up - some days its not there at all.

Went to the Dr last year and he said it's just strain on the back got an anti inflammatory and it was fine.

Bent over at an unusual angle two weeks ago and my back spazzed out totally, could barely move. Went to Dr and he did all sorts of prodding and fiddling and said I just need to be careful and it's nothing serious, just prone to back problems. I'm doing some back strengthening exercises at the gym now to hopefully avoid it in future.

1. Did you do something to hurt your back (pick up heavy objects)
2. Has your posture changed in the last couple of days? (Started reading again and sitting for prolonged times with bad posture)
3. Are skittles actually better than rascals?

I've had bad lower back pains for years now and the cause has been my posture and weak core.

DO NOT just go and do deadlifts and squats if you do not have proper form. You will screw up your back even further, I guarantee it! Go see a physio and ask for exercises and stretches. If that doesnt help you can go see a back specialist (Its expensive so do the physio part first).

I doubt that it is your kidneys. I had kidney failure 2 years ago because of the pain killers I took for my back and the pain first started in my stomach. It later went around to the back and I could hardly walk up stairs.

+1

I just do kickbacks/stretching/other mild back exercises without weights.

I don't know what stretches you do, but I'm going to stick with what's working for me.. Plus there's a ton of other benefits to lifting.
lol

Most cases of lower back pain is simply a case of underdeveloped muscles and incorrect posture, so in these cases deadlifting would be a good way to do some serious damage to an already dodgy back.

If you can manage to keep up a daily routine of a few basic stretches and core muscle exercises and keep a correct posture for 2 - 3 months the pain will go away. Perseverance is key, and it is the right way to fix it.

To anyone else who experiences lower back pain from sore muscles, may I suggest squats and deadlifts?

I used to wake up every morning with back pain, thought it was the bed, but the problem persisted when I changed it.

After two or three sessions squatting and deadlifting, the pain vanished. The exercise wasn't even meant to address that issue, but of course it makes sense that it helps.

Remember to use sharp, jerking movements while lifting.

had almost the same problem yesterday. after some minor lifting at work I could feel some sort of discomfort in my lower back. went home, took a bath...tried to stand upright and I couldn't, was in pain ( and still am a bit when I try to bend). pharmacist gave me some dicloflam anti-inflammatory tablets....

Had the same, best bet is to go see a physio.

Revival!

Try this: While standing and keeping the legs straight, try touch your toes.
Nowhere close to the toes?
Bad flexibility (especially in men) is a major cause of back pain. Focus on increasing the flexibility in the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings and you will notice a big difference.
A few basic core strengthening exercises can also go a long way
