Hi @Cell_C

Now that you have launched your LTE-A network in Cape Town, does this mean that all current LTE base stations are LTE-A enabled or are there just selected base stations? Also when will LTE-A enabled routers be available?

My understanding is that LTE-A can cover more ground then LTE so will you then upgrade your coverage map on the Cell C site?

In order to go from standard LTE to LTE-A, Cell-C would have to upgrade the physical hardware, so I'm sure its selected base stations and probably based on utilisation i.e. high traffic warrants LTE-A.

I know that and this is why I posed the question. When you read the launch articles they make it sound like the whole of Cape Town but I also think that is not the case.

Look at Telkom's LTE-A coverage, it grew a little in the beginning and then just stopped. I'm pretty sure the take-up was dismal so they decided to park it, until the time where people need it (the content is slowly starting to become more available)

Same thing will happen with Cell-C

Hi there,

Not all base stations will be LTE-A covered. A coverage map will be available soon. Only selected devices will be compatible. We are unable to confirm when we will have LTE-A routers.

@Cell_C I am currently experiencing bad speeds on LTE but are covered by LTE-A so when are you releasing the LTE-A routers and will customers be able to upgrade there LTE routers to LTE-A compatible routers if this is available?

@Cell_C ... Wish List  - LTE-A package please - including Huawei B315 (or similar router) with 200GB Data at a reasonable cost per month (beating Telkom's current R1599 for the same) ... and I would happily sign a 24 month contract with you :)

If I buy LTE data (it must be prepaid)

I don't like surprise bills. LTE being so fast (Being LTE-A is even more scary)... The data will fly so fast. if you leave it on to download by accident.. it could be 10-30gigs later.

CellC - Howmuch is the 200gig or 300gig packages ? (that last for 12month). Please PM me.

Again @Cell_C no developmements with reagards to stand-alone LTE-A routers?
