LTE Coverage?

Hi Guys,

I recently got Vodacom and MTN LTE coverage - I have LTE on my iPhone (Vodacom) and my friend has LTE on her iPhone (MTN). When I check the coverage map, I do not even fall into 3G nor LTE coverage, either thought I receive both. Is it possible it is the same with Neotel? There coverage is about 200m away?

Coverage maps are theoretical maps, generated by means of computer based simulations, taking a whole lot of factors into consideration, e.g. topography, frequency etc. (but probably excluding info like buildings, reflections etc).

So sometimes, the further you are away from the tower, the coverage may be better or worse than indicated. i.e. this means even though the map indicates you are in coverage area, but you may receive no signal, and visa versa.

Getting a device to test with is the best way to determine what is potting!

How would I get a device to test with? I'm not willing to spend R1000 just to test the LTE signal. Would I go to a local Neotel store?

If you are anywhere near the river :-(
Up to 1 km to the right of William Nicol you can try The nearer to fourways the better.

Did you manage to see if you are covered/near coverage etc? on the maps.

Yes about 100-200m away there is coverage.. It is the same with Vodacom, yet I still get 14mbps with 3 bars of 4G. I am near the river, but by Crestwood Drive.

We have offices on the East Rand and Houghton Estate. I go past Fourways often so shouldn't be a problem.
