At Centurion mall and see that you can get telkom mobiles LTE for home for R699 for 20gb. Has anyone signed up for this yet? Anyone have any light to shed on gaming performance on this?

Besides not cheap, good luck getting 3g coverage never mind LTE.

Just disappointed... 20Gigs on 3G is R299,00, so more than twice the price for the same data on LTE... Oh, and this just a couple of months after Amith Maharaj stood up and said, and I quote: "We want to make sure all the blocks are in place. Our biggest mobile data offering is 10GB; what size LTE packages do we need to launch with when you can download 23GB in 40 minutes?"
Yo Amith, are you and your Telkom mates seriously out of bundle for 29 days, 23 hours and 20 minutes each month?

Don't go for the LTE at home option as the Smart Internet bundles include LTE and work out cheaper. I got the 15+15 and works great

Exactly where does LTE work in SA?

Ditto - I personally don't see why you would pay double to DL the same amount of data as you would on 3G?

It looks like if you take out a contract, for whatever amount, you can bolt on the 60+60 GB option, but I will double check when their LTE agents contact me. Also chatting to a friend at TM, will see what he says about the whole thing

Ok, so I spoke to them. Currently offering 10GB (R649) and 20GB(R799) package with fee of R1570 for the Router. You can add on once off data from their prepaid offerings, however it excludes promo offerings. Basically any data package that has a limited lifetime (think he said 60 days) is available as a bolt on.

But....this is opposite to what is listed on the telkom website:
1. Definitions:
• SmartInternet – The inclusive Internet bundle of the offer can be used to access data on both Telkom Mobile’s and Roaming partner Networks.
• SmartInternet Promo – The inclusive Internet bundle of the offer can be used to access data only on Telkom Mobile’s 3G/LTE Network
• SmartInternet Saver – The inclusive Internet bundle of the offer can be used to access data on both Telkom Mobile’s and Roaming partner Networks. The out of bundle services e.g. SMS and Voice calls will be consumed from the airtime balance, thus subscribers must top up with airtime to consume out of bundle services e.g. SMS and voice calls.
• SmartInternet Saver Promo – The inclusive Internet bundle of the offer can be used to access data only on Telkom Mobile’s 3G/LTE Network. The out of bundle services e.g. SMS and Voice calls will be consumed from the airtime balance, thus subscribers must top up with airtime to consume out of bundle services e.g. SMS and voice calls.
• Telkom Mobile Internet Bundle – Telkom Mobile Internet bundle can be is used to access data only on Telkom Mobile’s 3G/LTE network.

So now I am really confused

Speed is very good for gaming. Diablo 3 green all the way. Rift has no problems, and even Mech Warrior Online plays as smooth as expected (my pc is actually too old for it). Does have its little issues once in a while like every ISP, but nothing to be too concerned about. The speed and stability is quite good.

I'm considering the HomeOffice LTE offerings but a bit shy of the 36 month term. I'd also like to see an offering without a device - in my case, I already bought the required LTE CPE cash.

@Wirelesswarrior go rather prepaid option and purchase the LTE router/device as now prepaid users are able to access LTE according to what the rep did mention on the forum.

Still curious to know how much the hardware will cost outright don't like being committed to a contract/tied down to something

The hardware is around R5000 - I already purchased the required LTE CPE cash to do stress testing at my home before getting all on board.

Problem with prepaid is it is quite expensive - R349 for Anytime 5GB and I've topped up twice this weekend. That compared to 20GB @ R699 on contract.

Hmm, FAQ # 15 says it won't work for LTE. This is the type of package I was alluding to that states the exclusion.
