Lucid Air EV

Could be because their share price has dropped 66% in the last year. Should have made an affordable vehicle, they're trying to cater only to the rich in a very challenging economic climate. Tesla couldn't survive on Model S & X sales alone, the 3 and Y are where the money is.

The longest range EVs in 2024 ranked

Range is arguably the most important metric of any electric EV and makers are quick to adopt to that trend. A couple years back only about 15 models offered in the US were above the 483 km range threshold and now there are already 33 that exceed it on the EPA cycle.

The US Department of Energy has compiled a list of EVs with the best autonomy and it's topped by the Lucid Air Grand Touring with its impressive 830 km. Granted, real-world conditions vary depending on where you live, your driving habits, and the whims of Mother Nature, but the vehicles on our list are here to ease your range anxiety and reduce the number of stops you'll need to make on your cross-country EV adventures.

Many of these models offer multiple powertrain and battery options, but the list features the longest-range version of each vehicle.

Lucid Motors brings Air Pure RWD to Europe

Lucid Motors, the American EV startup known for its luxury vehicles, has made its Air sedan more accessible in Europe.

The company is introducing a new entry-level model in Germany, the Lucid Air Pure RWD. This rear-wheel-drive variant boasts 747 km range on the WLTP cycle and delivers a respectable 325 kW (442 hp). It significantly undercuts the previous Pure model in Germany with a starting price of €85,000.

If you crave more power, the Air Touring and Air Grand Touring variants still offer increasing performance for €99,000 and €129,000 respectively. And those with truly deep pockets, the top-of-the-line Lucid Air Sapphire is set to debut in Europe later in 2024, boasting over 1,200 hp and a jaw-dropping €250,000 price tag.

The Pure can recoup up to 322 km in just 17 minutes on a 350kW charger, with the Grand Touring doing even better at 12 minutes.

For those still sitting on the fence when it comes to buying the Air, the company has put together a sales package to make the EV transition a bit easier. All new Lucid models sold in Europe now come with a free 22 kWh Wallbox Pulsar Max home charger taking care of the overnight battery top-ups. The servicing is gratis as well - Lucid is throwing in 2 years of maintenance, as long as you don’t clock more than 40,000 km.

That Sapphire is quite a feat of engineering.

Let's hope the owner's can still get them fixed in the next 3 years.
