I dont know, but it is an intriguing question, however you can have the best stats in the world and still not have the right attitude you would also agree?
Havent seen Luke Watson playing in any other positions myself where players like P3 are much more versatile over a long competition.

I think with those tackle stats Luke would be better suited as a center.

Tiger Woods has an attitude, yet no one will dare deny that he's the best golfer in the world.

100% correct, however he doesn't have to play in a team.

Don't get me wrong here, I think Luke is a great player but he's getting shafted by the whole selection story going on at the moment

Attitude?

What is wrong with having an attitude? We need players that will spark on all pistons all the time. Players like that light up the fire in the other players.

It is quite clear that Jake has a group of players that he trusts and that he believes will deliver when he asks.

I also dont think that anyone suggests that LW is a bad player, just that he is not the first or even second choice for that matter.

Would be interesting to see what the difference in game time is between the candidates as well as this will influence the stats a lot.
From the selection of this squad you will notice that game time is clearly not a prerequisite either. (Willemse, Chivanga)

Perhaps we need to instead ask why Jake should drop one of his tried and tested loose forwards for Luke?
These players have done the job and fit in with the team and group of players that Jake has been working with for a while now, wny upset the apple cart with someone else? It really doesn't make sense.

This brings up past conflicts like Tiaan Strauss who also could not buy time in a Springbok jersey at one stage for all the money in the world and eventually went to play rugby in Australia
After serving his time was voted player of the year there and also won a world cup with them in '99!
It was Strauss or Francois Pienaar at that stage, both captains, both 'leaders' and both loosies.
Dunno about you but I am kinda happy with the choices that were made then.
Putting a team together is far more complex than I would care to imagine, let alone try and understand. The bottom line is that SARU have put their trust in a group of people to do this job and they have now effectively undermined them. It is a disgrace.

I urge you to listen to the man that made this decision.

No surprise, hardly the way a president of a national asset should conduct them self.

Luke Watson is a very good player.

Hoskins shot him in the heart.

Even if he makes it on merit he will be fore ever be known as a quota player.

He is good enough. He didn't need this.

Imagine finally making the training team. And the next day it is said, it shouldn't have been. :(

What a way to get your Springbok career of to a start. :(

(CUR. PPI) 0 6 (tries) 0 0 0 0 0 62 (runs) 153 (meters) 2 (def beaten) 1 offloads) 0 0 127 (tackles) 16 (missed tackles) 3 (lineouts opp) 6 (lineouts own) 11 (turnovers conceded) 15 (passes) 1 (innefective passes) 14 (pen defense) 6 (pen offence) 0 0 0
Thats Wickus van Heerden, doesnt look worse than Watsons at all, if not better.

Look at Pierre Spies, he only has 5 games stats there, so divide his stats by 5 and multiply it by 13 and you see what you get, also not different to Watson but better.

Same with Juan Smith, he only played ten games.

Stats dont mean everything bear that in mind. They are important there is no doubt but its also how a players plays and how he fits into the team and the game plan.

There is nothing wrong with being confident but i think luke watson thinks he is bigger than the game and the senior players in the Springbok team wont tolerate it, it will cause tenison and disunity.

I have no doubt Luke is a good player, i just think we have as good or better players in the squad already, why waste a place in the squad with something you have already.

Best loose treo is Juan Smith, Pierre Spies & Schalk Burger.... Nuf said !

Luke had his time ( 1 - 2 Years back) but now he's out classed. He missed the bus now needs to life with it

You are forgetting the semantics our "leaders" are using.
They use apartheid as a swear word.
They prefer to use that magic word "transformation"

The difference between the two?
Apartheid = No black
Transformation = No white

Wasting a place?
Never!
The power mad anc is working on a better place for all.

I heard from a reliable source that the reason why Jake doesn't want to choose luke, is because he is uncontrollable. Jake ran into problems with luke, when the former coached the U-21's to world cup victory, and the latter played in the same team.

Luke Watson does not fit into White's game plan and he has a sucky attitude. That's all there is to it. I've just read Robbie v Hoskins on News24, what a joke.

Apartheid = No black
Transformation = No white

Vote: Best quote for the day!
Expanded...never mind!

Well with the latest rugby performances Who cares who is luke Watnot. Maybe they earmark him to be the captain during the WC. What a joke, if he cannot even work with the coach how will he fit in the team. And now he is pride of it. If I had to get in by the back door and not due to talent and team acceptance I would Rather refuse. Wel elke drol op sy eie!

Just look at his political background.

His father and uncles are part of the creeping bunch at the backsides of the ANC elite. Stofile and Hoskins included.

They are all involved in some way getting millions out of government contracts.

You kick any of those Anc Whalas on the backside and you are bound to break a Watson's teeth.

He is a government lackey and deserves to be labelled at the best a quota player.

What is the use of having friends in high places if you can't abuse them?

Luke Watson is good, you can not deny that but would I put him as a springbok now? I don't think I would, we are actually so lucky at the moment that we have such depth. I would personally choose Jaques Boetes over LW but his time will come.

Oregan Hoskins has done the worse possible thing for rugby at the worst possible time and it would not suprise me if we saw a "Wanted Springbok coach, this is a BEE position" and right before the WC when we are doing so well as a nation in rugby.

That giant Yeye got the job as manager.
Naas Botha applied but was not accepted.
AA or "baadjies vir boeties".
