Luke Watson Saga

Although I must say I expected better from Hopskins. Very disappointing.

Me too. Although I guess we also thought the van Rooyen would be a breath of fresh air when he came in, and Luyt when he came in.

More of the same.

Please explain to me why that moron says Luke Watson is black? Is it because his father played rugby with black players?

O/T: why do the non-white politicians always label people as black, white etc? Everything turns into black & white when a non-white politician makes a statement.

Good move Stofile.
Rofl
Some Stofile for you :D

If Stofile truly believes Schalk Brits should be a Bok, why did he not attack the Stormers coaching staff when they dropped the player halfway through the season. When Odwa Ndungane was axed from the Sharks match 22 five weeks ago, why did Stofile not make a front page issue about that one. When Hougaard was knocking over kicks but the Bulls were getting beaten by the Force and Hurricanes, why not declare him the World Cup flyhalf ahead of Twickenham heroes Andre Pretorius and Butch James and the South African game’s biggest revelation in Frans Steyn.

Why the constant attack on Bok captain John Smit? This is the guy who has led the Sharks to a first ever home Super 14 final. This is the guy whose team statistically has the best lineout in the competition. This is the guy who has played 80 percent of the game time in the Sharks march to the final. But the most influential administrator currently working the SARU floor, can’t acknowledge that of his national captain.

Stofile questions why Bob Skinstad, a former Bok captain and veteran of 34 tests, is in the training group, Has he considered the player’s contribution this season? Skinstad has played three Wildebeest and 10 Super 14 matches. He has made a contribution in all of them. Stofile asks why Skinstad is there and not Gcobani Bobo. For a start, one is a loose-foward, the other is a centre. Secondly, one cannot make the Super 14 squad and has played Sevens this year.

Wonder what he will say next when he gets his hoof out of his mouth.

Interesting to read all the 'professional' opinions by all these political officials.

They must know what they are talking about. Please give them a chance

Good move Stofile.

Who is this Stofile oke and when/where did he play rugby? Since when is the Luke Watson issue an APARTHEID issue? The guy does not get picked because of the fact that he does not fit into the coaches game plan. His attitude also sucks.

MY BLOED IS BLOU!

Interesting ... so anyone the ANC deems to have supported them or who's parent supported the struggle gets a break.

Does this also apply to BEE I wonder??

What a frigging farce!!

Who is this Stofile oke and when/where did he play rugby?

His brother Arnold.

Politics is not the only area in which Stofile has attained great respect, he is also an accomplished sportsperson. In the late '60s and early '70s he was a top rugby player. He was captain of the Border team, playing in the positions of scrumhalf and wing. He was also elected to the Victoria East Rugby Union and to the executive of the Victoria East Council of Sport. Stofile was an early campaigner for non-racial sport. He was a major force behind the progressive South African Rugby Union.

Him

After playing rugby for 15 years, in 1986 Mike Stofile took up his first administrative role in Rugby when he became the secretary of Victoria East Sub-Union. He was then appointed to various bodies with SA Rugby and was nominated as a Vice President of SA Rugby in 2003

I would say he is a rather qualified to comment on rugby matters.

Well you went to school for 12 years and I would imagine that you have tertiary education but does that mean everything you say is intelligent or your comments are valid? I think a few of us might disagree.

Yes tibby you would.

Victoria east union will be beaten by any top rugby school second 15.

Oh, then he was appointed to various posts in SA rugby. I am sure you would not disagree that it was a political appointment.

Yes tibby, halve his CV is useless the other halve corrupt.

Yes tibby, you would say he is rather qualified. But then we know you.

PS. I see the kitchen got to hot for your comrade. Another of your brave and steadfast cadres. Shame.

And rugby in S.A did not consist solely of white players , Manetjies Roux, Doc Craven and the Springbokke ... a few of you might do well to remember this little fact.

How can we forget. You remind us at least twice a day that you had no opportunities.

That is history. Nobody is disputing it. Now that the anc is doing exactly that is it less despicable?

Or do you have to be equally despicable then we can try and make something out of this?

And please, rugby wise don't even attempt to name these underprivileged buffoons in the same breath as Mannetjies Roux and Doc. That will be pretentious.

I agree Tibs. In the old days there were a few coloured players in the Country, I do not know of any black. But please don't kid yourself. Manetjies Roux and the Doc. I bet you cannot even pronounce it like Edwill van Aarde. Anyway I hope it will one day be the same again and not go limp as with Chester Williams and a few others and the team is selected on merit with talent and team combinations that will make us the best Yet again. Politics do not belong in sport. We saw that with the Doc and others.

Mmmm, a sore point. Still raw!

You would think so hey Tibby, but the man appears to so caught up with his allegiance to the ANC that he is oblivious of the difference between a center and a loose forward and even sevens versus the 15 man code for petes sake!

He is an AA post (like Yeye) at very best and a fool to let his political affiliation cloud sound rugby judgement.
These people do more harm than good and are certainly not servants of the game.

The Springbok players association should boycott the world cup if this is all the new management at SARU brings to the table.
The rot is at the top as it has been for a while now, not with the team.

No ... it is called justice which is done by addressing the WRONGS of the past.

Shame tibby still an the same old stuck, disgruntled ,reverse racist, recording track. Not our fault you are still in mid air, not well defined in position in the new SA domain. At least I know where I stand. Do you?

And how would any of us know this considering back then that rugby was segregated (SARU vs SARB).

Actually there is book that details this
Forgotten Heroes: a history of black rugby, 1882-1992 (the non-racial SARFU (old SARU and SARB) was formed in that year)

ISBN: 0620224819

Some of these players mentioned in the book afaik got honorary bok caps later on at a special ceremony.
