Lumia 800 battery fix

Yeah also seems like some free apps too with advertising.
 
I got the s/w update and happily can report that battery life is up by as much as 50% (ok, maybe 40%). Maps and Drive updated too. BUT, now when I go to "Post a message", it no longer posts to Twitter. Other networks post fine, e.g. facebook. I've tried reauthenticating the twitter account, no joy. Twitter app still works fine.

Anyone else have this problem?

Just a few tips to make the battery last a full day.
  1. Switch off applications/Tasks running in the background.
  2. Sync Emails at longest intervals eg. hourly.
  3. Take care when loading "Apps" and that includes the "Free" or "Purchased" ones, there are many of them that run in the background increasing battery current drain.
Applying these few tips will make you a happy Lumia user with a lower data usage and longer battery life. :)
 
Almost a week now since applying the update and i can report that the battery fix does appear to have done something.

I do not believe in any of the so called 'tips' for saving battery life for any phone. Got more important things to worry about!
So even with 'bad habits' - ie using the thingy any old how - it has definitely improved.
Battery lasts ~ 2 days

I still can't get mine to last past a day. i notice that the 3G connection really drains the battery in no time at all.
 
Wall plug. Really enjoy the phone, only problem is that the data connection (not WiFi) really seems to drain the battery. Maybe the Vodacom network is poor but I am based in the Jhb CBD for majority of the day.
 
May be the network ? - no idea if the latent network state has any effect on the power usage?
(the PC USB charge is not really worth much - takes forever......)

I have purposefully not charged my phone since Wednesday evening and it is now on about 40% - nice!

Could someone post what OS build they are using (settings -> about -> more). Thanks.
 
Seems like I am unable to connect through my work proxy server via Wifi for Internet. Web page comes up "We can't display this page right now. The website you're trying to reach may be experianceing technical difficulties. Try again later. Error: Connot find server or DNS error."

Has this been fixed since Mango? I am seriously not happy about this :(
 
The Firmware version is the most important not the OS version. If you running FW: 1600.2487.8107.12070 you have the latest update from NOKIA (not from Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5).

You get two updates one is a pure OS update that's from Microsoft, the other is the actual handset firmware. In the case of the NOKIA LUMIA, the issues were in the hand set firmware. Firmware FW: 1600.2487.8107.12070 is reporting some outstanding results with batteries during heavy usage lasting well over a day, spontaneous reboots stopping and updates to NOKIA music and NOKIA Drive.

Unfortunately it's up to the service provider and their release schedule to get the update out to us. However I have seen many users with the LUMIA already receiving the update.
