Three friends have had button problems with their Lumias. The first two had issues with the lock button on their 520s. The other is having a problem with the volume down button on his 720.

Nokia has been excellent about repairing them under warranty, but what happened to the old-school Nokia build quality well all know and love?

Have no issues with my 920, but many have compained about dust in the front facing camera of the 920

Still the same other manufacturers just caught up while Nokia was fast asleep during the capacitive touch & modern OS phase
How does the saying go? You snooze you.... work at nokia

I'm on my 3rd Lumia and haven't had a single issue nor has anyone I know had any issues with theirs

All three friends are students so their phones are treated pretty rough.

I just hope being “Made in China” hasn’t caught up to Nokia.

My phones have never been babied, they all have nicks and scratches from being dropped numerous times

mine was fine , until i dropped it :(

now the volume up is very hard to press , and lock button needs to be pressed a bit harder to work :(

lumia 520

pfft My Lumia 800 fell itself it its chops and beyond and is still fine... the only thing that killed it was falling in a akward way while the charger was still in so the charging pin broke. Got replaced with a Lumia 820 that also has been falling like crazy. once fell so hard that the battery and back cover(that is vrek difficult to take off in the first place) flew one side. Put back together... no problem bro.
No button issues either.

Dr@g0nic, I seriously advise you wipe your hands after buttering the toast! :)

Software issue apparently. Think it's GDR3 :(

Been dropping my 720 a lot lately. No issues. I know someone else that accidentally drop kicked theirs... broken screen.

I think it depends on how bad the fall is, and which part of the phone hits the ground first. This would be true of all smart phones.

ROFL! Does licking them count?

Speaking off.... I had a cover on my 820... but it was so annoying so I removed it. But wowee... the 820 feel super slippery without a cover on hehe... I sense some more drops :D

i did drop my 920 a couple of times. it is a heavy brick though. the one drop landed right on the corner and bucked the white plastic, by compressing it up the side. it made my volume buttons hard to push in.
I then eventually dropped in flat on the screen on a tiled floor from 1.5m. the screen cracked.
I got a new 920 and bought a cover. (see thru one from directx -Chinese import) - working fine now.
Though i find the cover affects the flash. because it is see through it allows and distorts the light from the flash ,creating halos in the pics with flash. so trying my hand at flash-free pics. might cut out that bit of the cover.

Lumia build quality is better than 95% of the other manufacturers

I drop my 920 all the time. It has no protective covers etc and still works and looks fine. There are some scratches on the screen now and marks in the plastic from the harder surfaces like concrete. But no cracks or major damage so its very solid.

True, the amount of abuse i put my 920 thru was alot, i'm sure any other phone would have cracked way before mine did.
they build them tough. Def highlight Nokia's great build quality.
I would still recommend a cover for 920 due to its being slightly heavier.

My 2 year old 800 is still working without any problems. Screen is still as good as new.
