Lumia Data Usage

Does anybody know if the Lumia 800 disconnects from wireless networks when it is not in use? Got a heavy data bill last month, and I spend about 90% of my life within range of a wireless network. This is one avenue I'm exploring to find out why.

The phone as I remember stops downloading after the screen being off for a couple minutes if I remember correctly. OS limitation. Disconnects from WiFi and 3G. On WP8 you can "allow" it to transfer data over WIFI only when the screen is locked.
How much data-usage are we talking here?

The bill was R377.83 for data, there are no data usage apps for Windows Phone 7.8, so am unable to varify any sort of usage that Vodacom claims.

Try install Nokia Counters to put a limit on your data usage for the month. Only advice I can give I'm afraid

Thanks! I've tried counters but it's only for 7.5, and wont show up in the store for mine since I upgraded

Install spotify, open it and tombstone it to the background, no need to login. It'll keep your wifi connection alive.

For real never noticed that issue on my L800. Will test when I get it back. Hope it all gets sorted mate.
