Lumia Denim Update

They said Feb. And all the previous W10 betas appeared sooner than expected. So hoping that's the case with W10 for Mobile.

I haven't read any official communication that it will be feb, just speculation on tech sites. Also they will release the tech preview first which is not the same as the dev preview that we use.

You don't have to waste time reading tech sites. Just go search Windows Central. On there Microsoft has been quoted a number of times confirming a Feb release. Microsoft officially said it also on Twitter repeatedly over the last few days. If you watched the Windows 10 event a few weeks back, you also would've heard it.

More official than that you can't get.

My suspicion is that it will arrive along with the Feb build of Windows 10 for desktops. By looking at what's been happening over the last couple of days, I suspect it might happen as early as next week. If we are really lucky, it should happen this weekend already, but I am not really expecting something before sometime next week.

I'll agree to disagree ;-) Would be nice but I'm doubtful.

Well Arthur was referring to the Insider Program in February, so then you are the one who got confused.

Yeah, I see now. My mistake.

Still like I said, I'm hopeful the preview is available to the public this month but I'm not convinced personally. There is still the possibility of limited preview initially and delays.

Lets not forget how long denim took.

Remember that Dev Preview is basically the finished product. Insider is very much beta.

Wonder when we will see the availability of the Denim Update across ALL Lumia devices in South Africa?
I was under the impression that Microsoft would start the roll out from 16 Feb 2015.
Anyone have any more news please inform us please?

I never saw any date of the Denim release for SA, only that it would be in early/first quarter 2015.

It's not dependent on Microsoft. They can roll out software updates OTA, firmware updates like Denim is operator dependent

Why don't you install the developer preview app on your phone?

That should roll you up to Denim and ignore the service provider.

The developer preview will only give you the OS updates. The firmware updates are limited to the service providers. You only get that when the service provider ok it.

Thanks but I am pretty sure the major network providers will not delay the release unduly for sure.

I've been having quite the pow wow with Mtn and Lumia South Africa via their Facebook profiles. Each of them shifts the blame onto the other for the update not rolling out saying its dependent on the other to roll it out. I know from previous updates that its the operator that finally releases it so I think MTN is the fibber in this case. I have a Lumia 930 which was marketed together with the Denim Update so I'm quite peeved they haven't released it yet. I think their are a lot of fingers in bums at Mtn not knowing who is responsible for what.
