What do you guys think of the new Lumina SS V8?

I love these USA chevs. but the more I speak to people about them the more I hear "Id rather drive something else"

unless it refers to petrol or whatever... but thats not the general problem.

well it depends on the price of this car, and which other cars its classed with.

looks real chav :)

ya they have grunt.. how much do they cost though ?

they arent that bad, big 5.7 V8 for under 350k... its like the cheapest "super" car i can think of, the bakkie, with a twin turbochanger, and free flow exhaust, aaaaaahhh.... NICE :)

Its an australian built car...

But its using a chevrolet v8, same one thats in the Corvette I think, but possibly detuned a tad.

The Lumina is an incredible machine. Contrary to what Tazz racers will tell you, it actually handles pretty well for such a bulky car. Curb weight is really good, at about 1700kg, IIRC. It has massive latent tuning potential as well. Rob Green Motorsport offer a supercharger upgrade for about R100 000 which ups power to over 450kw. The old Lumina was pig ugle but the new one has some nice visual appeal. I like those 4 exhausts in the back. :)

Check out some Top Gear and Fifth Gear episodes. All the journalists love it. In the UK it's called the Vauxhall VXR8.

Best thing about it is that you should be able to pick up a low mileage year-old car in these economic conditions for about R250 000-R280 000. Same price as a new GTi, except here you have a 6l rear-wheel-drive V8.
