First thing's first. Please don't comment here telling me how bad smoking is to my health. I know this and there's no need to reassure me.

I have been a smoker for 3 years and have never had this happen to me before. Recently, (about a week ago), every time I smoke a cigarette I experience intense pain/burning when inhaling. The weird thing is, when I let the smoke cool down for a bit and then inhale, there is no pain. Smoking lighter cigarettes also gives no painful or burning sensation. It's also fine when inhaling slower than usual.

What could be the cause of this? I can still breathe normally and I'm not coughing up any blood, etc. It's just that smoking my normal brand hurts my lungs and gives me a dry throat these days. :wtf::sick:

PS: 20 years of age.

Dude, smoking is really bad for you. I am not trying to reassure you, it's very bad.

*edit*

Lesson 1: Never ask people on an internet forum not to do something.

Also, go to a doctor.

End of story.

It's quite clear that you're suffering from fatuititis...

Life is not fair.

You could be suffering from allergies (or worse), but because you smoke, no one is going to have much sympathy. It's the same with drinking too much and complaining the next day that you have a headache...

P.S. I'm one of those "horrible" ex-smokers (1 pack a day for almost 25 years). My lungs are screwed and I probably deserve to suffer. I also thought that it would be easy to quit.... many years ago.

+1 - go see a doctor

However here goes, a friend of mine had something similar - but his hurt all the time when he breathed in, but I suppose it started slowly (this is back in school so some years ago) eventually his doctor diagnosed Pleurisy ( after googling how to spell it I wikipedia'd it for you :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleurisy )

The doctor put him on some antibiotics and other tablets and no smoking for around a month and he was right as rain.

BUT only a doctor can say if it is this or something else....

stop smoking. I went from smoking a pack a day (Cowboy Killers - Marlboro Reds) - to nothing in 3 months.

The physical labour I did helped me stop smoking ciggies cold turkey.

Well clearly no intelligent answer will be given on this subject. -.-

That's your body's way of telling you to stop smoking. You need to see a doctor immediately, but I'm guessing your lungs and throat are irritated by the smoke. You know what that means...

Have not smoked for the whole week :) Just worried when I start drinking during the weekend :erm: Wish me luck

I'm not allowed to give advice as I've been smoking way too long. Had my first smoke at 6. Regular smoker by 12. Used to leave early for school so I could have a smoke on the walk there.

Anyways, I've had to move all the way down to Kent Menthol. Anything else and my throat burns, my chest hurts, etc, etc. And I can't smoke without sucking on strong sweets, usually Halls or Sparkles.

I've had a byopsy a while ago for cancer. Turned out to be some other organ disease but right after I got home, I went to 7-11 and bought another pack of smokes. I was still a bit drowsy from the anesthetic and coughing blood but yeah.

Anyways been trying to quit now again. Cut down to a max of 2 or 3 per day.

Suggestion: suck on a strong sweet and increase your intake of vitamin C (orange juice, etc), while you cut down and eventually quit

Stop being such a moffie and buy Texan plain.

that directed at me?

would've quit long ago had I known the damage i was causing. my lung capacity is gone to ****., I've got masses on my lungs missed out on such a great opportunity (pilots licence training free of charge through SAA cos of not passing the medical tests)
