Lycamobile

This is really good prepaid deals. Why can't the other networks offer this?

I need all inclusive minutes for calling any SA network and all inclusive 4G data. Would be great if the other SA networks could do straight forward deals like this. Telkom seems like the best option for now although you'll have to maintain a balance to call non Telkom numbers.

Yes I have a bunch of Lycamobile simcards and what I can tell you it's horrible....

Network is exclisive to Cellc so no MTN roaming. No LTE! Just 2G and 3G. It's always roaming on Cellc means the R icon always shows.

The data network is a disaster. As with all simcards that are roaming the data goes to their home network first so in Lycamobile case the Data goes from SA to the UK the your are on Lycamobile network and if you visit a sit hosted in SA then the traffic will travel back to SA so doing a speedtest to a speedtest server in JHB for example will see 350ms+ not to mention it's also crippled by Cellc's poor network.

Really not worth it for anything other than light internet usage and voice because surprisingly voice is the only thing that was working well. Calling Lycamobile numbers in the EU is free so that can be an advantage if you have people in the EU or in Australia you want to call for free. Other than that just go directly with Cellc.
 
Can the sim bought in SA work in Europe?

I checked the website and the local sim gets charged as roaming rates overseas.

Is your sim from Europe ?
