M-Net gets competition

Im not too happy about ICASA threatening to do away with Open time.. its not up to them to decide, and they should leave it be its been going for how many years already.

Chances are ICASA will take it away.. which is a shame.. also, I'd have to go watch Egoli by my neighbours, what a mission.

I feel there should be a separate channel for all the soapies - E-coli, Isi-stinko, and the other monumental wastes of time on TV, it would be a channel I never watch...:D

This bodes well for the managed liberalisation process - besides going some way towards resolving the current inequities that exist, it should promote universal access through the removal of unwarranted constraints. The public service committment should also apply across the board at a regulated rate, methinx. Sorry for MaD and his Egoli - ask your neighbour to tape it for you!

IMO to now suddenly start a subscription broadcast channel will be very hard for any new entry to get a foothold except maybe for a 24 hour p0rn channel that we have not yet seen in SA.

Anyway with broadband television isn't subscribing to different television programs instead of channel subscriptions going to be the next big thing?
Such complexities aside, the mere fact that alternatives to the Multichoice offering may become de rigueur, irrespective of whether delivered through a licensed subscription service by channel and/or programme, means IT'S A GOOD THING!

Competition for Mnet = a very good thing!!

Well if you consider the cost of DSTV per month Add all the good channels like MTV and discovery into your packagage and offer it for less and you will have a hit. Bundle in broadband and you got a killer deal.

There is a unit which I purchased a while back called a Dream Box, email me if your intrested, it works on your DSTV card, however it also gets a whole spectrum of other channels like bop-tv, zim-tv and basiclay anyone who is aming a signal at a pa7/9/10 satelite, it can also work of two dishes pointing at diffrent areas so you will get cretain new channels free like sky etc. Google, dreambox

We do have pr0n.. 24 hours a day for the past few years.. telkom screwage.. best pr0n show around.

Competition against M-net... if they do it right they'll get customers like me who think M-net's programming sucks.

Moralising aside, adult movies, anime, and other oddities might be the way to go to attract customers.

Zim TV

HAAAA - sorry Weasel, just picturing spending money to watch Zim-tv... :-D

Mnet got a free ride for too long. With the market opening up they certainly dont deserve open time any longer. If they're smart Mnet will drop their prices in order to stimulate growth.

Good at last I don't have to be stuck between 2 movies on a Sunday night [ imo E.TV & Mnet have c**p movies for most of the time]

No more open time from April next year.

Will M-net introduce a serial killer in Egoli to kill off all the characters? :D
ROFL, I'd put on a hockey mask & get my chainsaw out - MNET wouldn't even have to pay me for my acting part - I'd do it for free...:D

Well I'm happely sharing dstv with a friend using my dreambox. So far so good. Lots of guys on his server.

ICRAPSA has time to do this?! Stupid TV, no one needs TV if they can download all thier episodes with cheap bandwitdh onto their PC's :D

Please enforce the ADSL regulations ICRAPSA...

Softbase, if I had my way, which luckily for I don't, I would ban your behind back to the stone-age.

What possible reason did you have for resurrecting an 18 MONTH OLD THREAD!!!!!!!!!
