Mac & cheese...

I prefer it with well done onions, mince and a good sauce.

Just the right amount of salt for macaroni and seasoned properly for the mince and sauce.

Adding All Gold Tomato Sauce to the mince when it is fully stir fried gives it a great taste too. Smells great as well.

Yeah, I agree. but that's not Mac n Cheese.

My grandfather use to make a really nice mac and cheese.

Pasta, white sauce, cheese and thinly sliced tomato on top and then into the oven.

I know it's not the same. :p
I just can't stomach mac and cheese as people make it. It's too plain and doesn't taste good to me.

Pasta is already not my favourite food, so I put a lot of work into making it taste better.

You haven't tasted mine yet. :p

The base of mac and cheese is a great start to a whole world of pasta bakes. My common combinations:

- Mince, onion, jalapeno and whole kernel corn (looks like vomit but is delicious)
- Chicken, onion, piquant peppers
- Anything else I have laying around like cut up viennas, sausage or burger patties

All works well and is good comfort food that you can eat on for 2 days, breakfast lunch and supper.

no one else makes crusts for the top? Can't beat some Fritos or similar crushed and mixed with some grated cheese and stuck under the grill for a moment

My ex step mother used to use simba chips...but then again she couldn't cook to save her fkn life except for like 2 dishes. So I try avoid anything she did

i think im the same

i hate boring lasagne and mac and cheese

when i do make a pasta the sauce must be proper with lots of garlic chilli and parmesan

For those who make mac and cheese, who uses the egg/milk method and who makes a béchamel sauce with flour and butter?
Flour butter and milk , basic white sauce, salt and pepper to taste, then add grated white cheddar cheese and a hefty chunk of Blue cheese to the sauce, until it is fairly thick.
(all the egg will do is add richness to the sauce and solidify the dish when baking.)
Pour over prepared Macaroni in oven proof dish, toss to mix , then grated mozzarella over the top , maybe sliced tomatoes over the top first then the cheese,
Bake in oven at 180 until top cheese browns slightly. (Dont Grill)

For Fish Lovers.
A variant is to add flecked fish like Haddock to the basic white sauce and a whisked egg, instead of the cheese, then mix with the Macaroni and add grated cheese on top same as normal for a decent "Fish and Mac".

I basically do something similar to your first recipe, the only difference is I use Tuna instead of Mince
