Mac Friendly Tablets (Android)

None. If you want something to interoperate with a Mac, buy one from Apple. If you want something to interoperate with Windows, buy one from Microsoft. If you want something to interoperate with Android, ... jeez, I dunno, what does work with Android?

OK, on a more serious note. There are software kludges out there that will let almost anything work with anything else. Google "the missing sync". It's not elegant, it's not always reliable, but for some it may be the answer.

But how the Samsung Galaxys and the ASUS Transformer Prime looking at those 2 but planning to purchase around April or May.
But Thinking when Next iPad Comes out for a price comparison looking at the rumors the ones with a Cellular radios are gonna be Expensive looking at LTE and support for CDMA/GSM.I need a tablet with a cellular radio for data usage

Most (if not all) Android tablets are compatible with mac. I have an HP Touchpad Running Ice Cream Sandwich and I have never had a problem.

Frankly about to call noobs on all of you above. What do you mean compatible?

Being able to copy files? As long as it has a usb port, its compatible?

What else?

Seriously? Really?

NOOOOOBS!!!!!!

Frankly about to call noobs on all of you above. What do you mean compatible?

Compatible for me would mean that I open my address book and my contacts are there. Never mind where I made changes last time, it's all been sorted out on all my devices. No saving out to Vcard and importing, then weeding out the duplicates, again.

Compatible means that my agenda is the same on all my devices. It means that text files don't suddenly look funny because on gadget terminates lines with CR-LF while the other uses only a CR or only a LF. It means that when I want to play a movie on the tablet and it is on my computer as an MP4 or a MOV then the system changes it to a M4V on the fly while transferring it to the tablet. That way I don't get an error message in the motel room in Koekenaap.

Compatible means all those little things that makes life easier, that lets the computer do the boring stuff and lets me get on with my life. Clear enough for you, noob?

Then sync with Google. Having the complete walled garden that is i**** products doesnt mean you actually get everything going properly. I had an iPhone syncing with my gmail, I have my wifes iPad syncing with gmail. I have my Touchpad syncing with my gmail. I have my android phone syncing with my gmail. By syncing I mean email(gmail), contacts (gmail), calendar (google calendar), documents (dropbox, google docs), music (google music). I wont give that up so that it can work only on iCloud only with the devices apple allows me to. Even people who only have mac products that I work with use google to sync and not the iCloud stuff as it limits your mobility were you to choose another product outside the iOS world.

Lol on the video conversion line. Most likely, with an android tablet, you wont have to convert your video. Most of the tablets decode everything, so just drag and drop. You wont be limited to iTunes conversion to M4V.

So yes I call NOOB. More than ever now on you. clasqm is NOOB on Android tablets, and probably Tablets in general outside the iOS devices.

Then sync with Google.
This is a partial solution at best. There is so much stuff outside of my gmail that I want synced. Documents, books, music - if I can plug in a device and push one button and have it all synced with my mac then fantastic but the reason the iPhone was so popular initially is that, as any mac user will tell you, syncing sucked at the best of times.

I don't want to rely solely on the cloud for my data.

I already indicated how the Google sync (with all the stuff you mentioned can be done) even using Dropbox you can make it better. Apple also does it with its iCloud offering. So I will assume that you did not really read my post as the alternative would be that you dont understand what the sync products do.

First from this I dont understand your iPhone statement. So the iPhone was popular because its syncing sucked. I will say that is the first thing I switched off with my iPhone after a refresh was Sync. I do not want all my things tiered to iTunes. Why?

There are so may free over the air sync services like google, Dropbox, SugarSync, Box.Net that you can use with all the different phones (Win, iOS or Android).

I don't want to rely solely on the cloud for my data.
Thats why a lot of the cloud services have local sync - to your desktop SMH!!!!

Yes, I read your post - "By syncing I mean email(gmail), contacts (gmail), calendar (google calendar), documents (dropbox, google docs), music (google music)." - You rely on gmail for most things, many dont have or want that option.

Mac users had suffered from poorly implemented syncing kludges before the iPhone came onto the scene. I don't think I can possibly make it any simpler to understand that that.

Plug the iphone/ipad/ipod into charge and it sync - can you not comprehend why people would enjoy this level of simplicity? I don't want to have to pay for the amount of storage that I'd require to back up my data in the cloud via Dropbox or iCloud. Syncing it locally is fast and free.

So . . . if android tablets, phones, or whatever can so all this, like the iOS devices, then awesome - they're mac friendly tablets.

I use a Motorla Xoom, there credibility posted (also have an iPad 2 in the family).

As for syncing, use google to sync your calendar, mail, etc. Documents, use either Dropbox or Syncplicity. I personally use Syncplicity as they offer an automatic sync between your desktop files that are stored on Syncplicity cloud service and Google Docs. I also use Dropbox as a backup for Syncplicity, also allows me to sync across Evernote. For reminders and other agenda/to-do's use either Evernote or Wunderlist. For movies and music, i assume its all already added to your iTunes library. Download and install Airsync and DoubleTwist player, Airsync syncs with your iTunes library to the DoubleTwist player (this is the only application that costs money, everything else I am mentioning is free). For other movies and series, there are lots of players. I use MX player since it features a codec pack you can download to watch other file formats with hardware level decoding (a must for me as i watch anime, and the subbers don't all use a standard), or you can wait a bit as VLC is releasing an Android player (iOS will probably get the same loving too). Books, its the same across iOS and Android. Use Kindle and Kobo app for books, Zinio for magazines.

The one thing that Android has that trumps iOS completely when dealing with vanilla versions, Android offers the tablet to act as an external storage device, which means you can fully browse and copy/delete files directly, both on Windows and Mac OS X (I assume the same applies to any/most Linux Distro's). Also with airdroid, you can wirelessly access Android across the network within your browser as it turns the tablet into a network device, files are sent via FTP.

Note that currently the SA Android market offers probably over eight times the content that the SA iTunes store does. In my opinion, the current benchmark that makes or breaks a tablet is the apps offered. The SA iTunes store is exceptionally barren in comparison.

Got that noobs :D? Otherwise STFU and GTFO :p.
