Apple has just released Mac OS X 10.4.10 update for Intel and PPC. This is probably the last major Tiger release.
The 10.4.10 Update is recommended for PowerPC and Intel-based Mac computers currently running Mac OS X Tiger. This update includes general operating system fixes, as well as specific fixes or compatibility updates for the following applications and technologies:

- RAW camera support
- Mounting and unmounting external USB devices
- Support for 3rd party software applications
- Security updates

Hmm, what a load of junk :( Ok, not really! With the previous update, the were so nice as to up the default volume levels .. ie. in the previous previous update, I had my volume at 50%, and could move it down to about 15% for the same level. After this newest update, I have to put it back to 50% to hear anything :(

Some people are never satisfied :p

:D

LOL, no, but using my colleague's pen to dig the wax out of my ears did seem to help a bit :D

Well at least you're not using your own pen so that's a start . . . :D

I haven't noticed any difference since updating.

One thing on the update ... if you are running Parallels, you will pick up a problem connecting any USB devices to the VM ... there is a patch out for the problem on the Parallels forum (build 3214). Apparently this problem is not only with Parallels, but other VM vendors as well.

Ran into some problems last night. I have an access list on my Netgear router at home (mac address) so I dont use WPA with a key. I went to the girlfriends house where I have setup WPA and key and my Mac does not what to connect to the internet, it does connect to the access point. Its very inconsistant.... sometimes you can get to myadsl and then it would just time out. Her laptop is fine (XP)

I had a look through the Apple forums and there are loads of people having trouble with the wireless after the upgrade. It does not work properly with WPA/WPA2. There is also something wrong with the auto connect function if you go between wireless networks. So be on the watch out.

Hopefully they going to patch it soon

Cheers

I have experienced the same low volume levels on this update - previously 100% was fine on my macbook - now its too low to hear with the TV in the background.

Did yours do that curious 2nd restart?

So far no problems with my update (touch wood). Cant wait for 10.5 though!

MAC authentication is not a replacement for WPA. Someone sniffing your network traffic will see your MAC address (not to mention your private data flying about unencrypted) and can easily forge it.

Use MAC acl + WPA

Sounds like driver trouble.

Good to know. Thankfully mine went smoothly. Maybe it depends on the revision of your Airport - mine is a late model PPC

Naah, I'm going to buy it anycase for my Mini. But if I buy the MBP now I'll have to put off getting an iPhone for a good few months... :D

I think Leopard is going to be out in the UK long before the iPhone is.

Fortunately for me my one housemate travels to the U.S. at least once a month for work, so that's not really a problem.
I've got a feeling trying to use it on anything other than AT&T is going to be a very big problem. First off you need to activate it otherwise nothing works, also iirc from one of the reviews the sim isnt accessible.
