Apparently we should be up and running in the next couple hours.. will we need to do a software upgrade? Will we need to do an iPhone Firmware update, (2.0 anyone??) Will MobileMe iPhone Syncing even work on Ziphone'd iPhones? Will all the MobileMe features be available in South Africa? Will iDisk access speed be improved?

Questions questions questions...

Stop with the questions, continue refreshing me.com and lemme know when it's up. Mkay? Thanks :)

If MobileMe works on a ZiPhone'd iPhone I will totally get it. The exchange type services alone are worth it.

Gents
I see that it cost about 65 Euro a year. Who is using this and what is your experience. I am really keen to get it but R780 a year, if its not going to work great is a bit of a waste. Any pro's and cons would be much appreciated.

Hey,

I only got to use the PUSH for 3 days before my Phone got stolen. But while using it the system worked perfectly! PUSH email, contacts and calendars were all Pushed to my Pwned 1G iPhone instantly, and updates made on the phone all appeared on my Mac every 15mins when the mac synced with MobileMe. Apart from the push, MobileMe also gives you 20GB online storage to use as you please (i've set mine up as mobile FTP site) as well as 1-Click publishing when using web galleries and iWeb. MobileMe also stores all you're info online which saved my ass when my Powerbook, iMac and iPhone were all stolen last week, would have lost all my contacts otherwise!!! oh and there is also a type of VNC like client called back-to-my-Mac which allows you to see a home or work Mac remotely.

All in all i would be lost without my mobileme... its one of those products you don't need until you get it and then can't live without it afterwards...

I'm trying to figure out of all this what cant be duplicated for free (or at a substantial savings).

I like the sound of that VNC like type client that lets you see your iMac at home..... For the rest, it sounds overcharged... especially if converting currencies - plus SA bandwidth, it constraints won't be worth it for me.

I do that using dyndns.org and some port forwarding from my router. You can also access the Screen Sharing app directly - its in your core services folder.

EDIT - one tip - when you have all the computer addressees entered into screen sharing lock the plist.
