Thanks for that info. I was hoping someone would offer some brand recommendations. I don't need a bazzillion ports on the hub. At some stage I will upgrade my data projector with a more modern one with HDMI and other more modern connectivity but my current one is still good for what I need.

Thanks guys for answering my myriad questions. I am far from big cities and whatever I buy needs to work as needed. It's a pain in the ass to return or buy on a hit or miss basis.

I am allergic to tossing usable tech just "because" or "upgrade".

Aah if you have a device that is only VGA still that makes sense.

Maybe worth a look cost wise what a pure VGA and HDMI setup would cost separately so you don’t have that big thing dragging around everywhere.

Then you can just leave the VGA one plugged into your projector permanently.
