MacBook Air 13": repair or replace?

So, anybody looking for a shiny 2013 MBA-shaped doorstop or coffee table ornament for a good price. Special deal for you today 'nall my friend. ;)
Sell it for spares, you should get a thousand or so, the screen and body/keyboard/battery etc will still be good.

Quick question for you boffins please. I need to get a dock for this M1 now. Thunderbolt to VGA/HDMI/USB3 please. Preferably off Takealot. I know Dell are excellent but very expensive. I don't want cheap and nasty though.

Any advice is welcome.

Am I correct in saying both ports on the M1 MBA are Thunderbolt?

I am confused now. It seems Thunderbolt and USB-C are the same thing? Will a USB-C dock fit the Thunderbolt ports on the M1?

You'll never find a Windows laptop for R9k with 15h battery life and only using 30 watts during heavy usage so there's nothing to even suggest in Windows land.
Isn't that what the new ARM laptops are supposed to be? Will be interesting to see MediaTek enter the race here since their chips seem to be better this generation (and probably cheaper).

And then higher price points / Pro, we'll be waiting on the new AMD "AI" chips to go into the lower budget segment, e.g. the Asus Zenbook S16 seems to be more efficient at load than the M4:
And then average is the same, at idle it's 2-3W vs 4-5W.

On the WiFi test windows devices lag behind a bit, curious as to how the usage differs (e.g. does Apple have a lower default power profile).

But yeah, think anything above like 10h, difference becomes a lot less. Still good that Apple pushed there.

A bit more on topic, do not repair that MBA 2013, not worth it, please get anything else, that's definitely not economical to repair.

And those saying odd no one recommends not picking a Macbook, why? It's for wife, is she's comfortable with it, just use it. If it's for OP, then can suggest alternatives to see if he can consider.

We're already at the end of that journey.

They're mostly the same as of Thunderbolt 3-4, just means it must support at least 40Gbps and USB power delivery.

So something like this dock will run my data projector or HDMI connected TV monitor and a USB-3 remote dongle?

4-in-1 USB-C to 4Kx2K HDMI + VGA + USB 3.0 + USB-C PD Charging Hub Adapter available to buy online at @TAKEALOT We offer fast, reliable delivery to your door.

It claims to be compatible in the description.

I'd get something a little bit more streamlined and newer, nobody uses VGA for display any more.

But why VGA?

Cleaner but a bit more expensive - https://www.takealot.com/ugreen-50570-usbc-m-to-hdmi-m-4k-60-1-5m-cab-bk/PLID70675738 for a good reason from a decent brand.

NXTech also not too bad, but stay away from the no-name brand stuff, if you must have USB...

They have bigger ones too with more ports and Ethernet.
