Upgrade. I always do upgrades including on Windows. I won't do a reinstall only to have to reinstall all my apps, then all the plugins and then all the settings and then about 3GB of updates from Apple. No sorry, if Apple
can't get it right properly, they're useless.

I've also run Drive Genius to scan all drives - it found no problems. Also used it to defrag some of my drives. It did that. Fixing these options has not
stopped my mac from going frozen intermittently on shut down.

Sound like you got a dodgy installation of leopard... see if any of the Apple Resellers can help you out.. I know most of the guys at Digicape in JHB and I can vouch for them.. they know what they are doing!

I had to use an HP machine running XP for 2 weeks while my Macbook Pro Was replaced.. in the first 10 mins, it crashed twice randomly restarted once, and refused point blank to connect to a simple open Wifi network.. how do people work like that???[/QUOTE]

I don't think I can bear to bring this Mac Pro tower in to an Apple shop.

Seriously, it works most of the time but crashes sometimes on exit and then it just won't exit, have to shut down by pressing power button.
Occasionally the Menu bar dies (becomes unresponsive) when I click on the eject icon (I have an DVD drive eject icon next to the clock).

Oh today I had another look at the MacBook Air at Canal Walk. They had it outside Woolworths upstairs. Boy it was heavy! My Panasonic laptop
(with DVD-burner) and 100kg worth of protection of lid rollcage armour
is lighter. I can't believe they call it the "Air".

Seriously, Macs are nice but they are really pushing the lack of function
there with the Macbook Air.

An upgrade might be the easier/better option for novices but a clean install followed by a migration means you get a fresh OS and keep all your apps and data.

Thats strange - according to the specs I'm looking at the Air weighs 3lb (1.36kg) and the Y7 3.7lb (1.67kg) :confused:
