Macbook Air

Don't waste your money on Parallels just get Virtualbox.

But whatever you do DO NOT install Windows at the first moment you get stuck, then the entire exercise of getting a Mac is pointless.

See if you can survive a month with just OS X and genuinely LEARN how to use the OS before reverting to Windows.

You'll probably find you don't really need Windows any more.

Totally agree.

Nope, it's being sent to Jo'burg for further assessment. I am super pissed. Didn't even get a loan unit from the iStore.

That's harsh. How long did you have it and where did you buy it?

A quick note on Parallels - rather use VitualBox for now (free from Oracle) and get Parallels 10 in September. You can convert your VBox image to Parallels format when you get it up and running.

Ahh cool stuff.

Thanks for the response guys: Will have a look at Virtualbox. The OS does take some getting used to. I found myself always looking for "right click"

best app for a macbook:

UBUNTU

Not really. Ubuntu works quite well on my 2011 MacBook Pro but it has issues with power saving on my 2013 MacBook Air. The display remains off after waking from sleep and increasing the brightness switches the display back on but brightness can only be decreased by one or two increments before the display switches off again. I tried a whole pile of edits using TLP but it failed. Enabling Compiz special effects on both machines caused instability and eventually crashed Unity completely. I think that buying an Ubuntu certified notebook like the Dell XPS 13 Developer Edition would be a much better option.

Ahh cool stuff.

Two finger clicking/tapping is a right-click and if you connect a mouse, right-click is still right-click. I don't use a mouse on my Macs because the trackpad with all the various gestures is just awesome.

Also, remap your caps key to a hyper key (where caps = CMD + CTRL + SHIFT + ALT). Changed my life.

Plenty of options available - even using the right hand corner of the track pad if the mood strikes.

You running Yosemite?

Just on an old air I use for browsing. Not ready to move my primary laptop over just yet.

FWIW the options are the same in 10.9.
