So I have a Macbook, it was given to me in frustration by my fiances father, he no longer wants anything to do with it.

My fiance is over as my apartment, and I am working on my Toshiba and she is working on the Macbook (This allows me to get more WoW time in).

She takes a presentation she has saved on the Toshiba (she needs it to give a lecture on histology tomorrow) and tries to work on it in OSX... problem is.. other than having a terrible looking version of MS Office... she can not expand the working screen to full size. (Even when you click on the maximize button).

I know very little about Macs so and I dont intend to spend a long time trying to resolve the problem.

Is there anyway to get the PP window to expand so it uses up all the screen? Word also seems to have the same problem, but it maximizes to about 80% of the screen, where PP maximizes to 60%.

Its "Microsoft Office 2008".

On a side note, does anyone know how Ubuntu or Windows 7 would install onto a Macbook?

Drag the lower right corner until it occupies as much of the screen as you want.

A fundamental difference between mac and pc users is the way they utilise screen real-estate.

This has perplexed me as well--I have MacBook that a friend left with me for 2 weeks, and for the life of me, could not figure this out (double clicking the top of the window should maximize the window, right? Nooo, OS X does it diffirent--it sends it to dock!. When u look at this behavior, it seems to be the odd OS out--Linux, and Windows would maximize.

But, hey everyone wants to be different.

@OP: try installing OpenOffice for Mac OS X--make sure you have right installation dmg file from OOo to integrate with OS X interface. It runs so much better than the hideous looking Office 2008 for Mac by Windows.--man, M$ have a serious problem trying to convince Mac users to use MS products. Also if you can, try out iWork Keynote, it really a cool presentation tool--problem is you can't export to PPT format.
