Yesterday night, before I went to sleep, I closed the lid of my macbook pro to put it to sleep, like I always do. But this morning when I opened up the lid, it made the usual noises and so forth, but the screen did not come on. I turned it off, and still no screen. I tried everything, closed the lid, opening it... all of that, nothing worked.
Looked on the internet but didn't find a solution...
Any ideas?

Does it work with an external display connected?

Did you try turning up the brightness manually?

I don't have the adapters to connect an external display... Tried turning up the brightness yes, doesn't work.

Will just take it in I guess...

Ok, so I went to the iStore in V&A Waterfront... Gave it in there... Now I looked up a few things, like morhans posted, according to Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377) there are a few faulty graphics cards that was installed during May 2007 and September 2008. I bought my MacBook Pro in October 2007 and according to http://www.appleserialnumberinfo.com/Desktop/index.php my MacBook was built in October 2007, which means I am receive an 3 year warranty an the graphics card. I doubt if the people at the iStore will know this... What do I do if they charge me for a replacement (if that is the problem)? Just show them the site from Apple?

I would give them a call and let them know what your expectations are regarding the extended warranty, and if they're not in agreement get in touch with Apple SA.

There is no Apple SA, escalate to Europe.

They should be very aware of this issue, but probably will not volunteer the information. You can always point them at the KB article on Apple's site. If you still don't get joy give DigiCape a call and see what they say, they are also authorised to repair macs.
