MacBook Pro, MacBook Air hardware update

The MacBook Air is a perfect fit for the traveling business man that doesn't want to use an iPad. Apple is filling an interesting gap.

The MacBook Pro 13" upgrade was interesting, but I suspect it is the test ground for the updated 15" model.

The MacBook Air is an interesting machine, its apples answer to the Surface Pro 3.

There's little difference between the old MBA and the new ones, it's the new 12" MacBook range that interests me.

Yeah, it's going to get confusing - I wonder why they didn't just stick with MBA?

Because Apple is going to retire the MBA with the MB and keep the MBP as the more powerful notebook. Simplify the product range, standardise a bit more (I bet you the future MBPs are going to have the same tech as the MBA), keep charging a premium and make more money.

You can spot the Industrial Engineer CEOs strategy here. This is what Industrial engineers do.

MacBook Pro, MacBook Air hardware update

"The new versions of Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina and MacBook Air notebook computers launched immediately, and are available in the following base configurations"

Not locally available yet, nobody can tell me when they will be... zastore has at least acknowledged reality and dropped prices on the existing MBP 13"

I'm in need of a 15" Pro upgrade, but will the skylake Pros come out with the new 12" design later in the year?

The recent 13" 'upgrade' kind of throws that idea off..

Not really. I don't think that the spec bump to the 13" Pro will have any bearing on the upgrade path of the 15"- Apple has seen them as two distinct products for a while now, and I think that the 15" Pro will undergo a significant change this year.
