My daughter moved into a new house. Her iPhone connects perfectly with the house router wirelessly. Using the same password, her laptop won't connect. Keeps saying 'connection timeout' ? 2 other girls have laptops connected using the password. Any ideas out there? No responce from the Apple forum in 5 days. She lives on Channel Islands with extremely fast internet in case that matters ?

The router is old and its security setting needs to change.

Netgear router? I usually just try a few times and it connects... quite irritating. Often restarting the router helps.

Also try postin gthe question on forum.maccast.com The people there are extremely helpful.

Thanks, still waiting for the name of the router ! Washing her hair I suppose.....

hahaha, brilliant! Apple did say they fixed this a while back, but its not only you. Have a few macbook floating around the house, and all experience the same issues from time to time (but its random and about 30% of the time). They do eventually connect. There was a fix released in 10.6.2 or somewhere around there that made it less frequent, but it does happen. Only started happening to me when I got a netgear, and chatted to a few other people with Linksys who don't experience this problem.

Frustrating to say the least. Restarting my MacBook pro tends to sort out.

Sadly , nothing technical can be done. They can switch on phones, sms and shop ! I will pass on all info and try and talk her thru it via Skype to the phone tonight. Thanks all.
