MacBooks getting touchscreens next year

Apple is preparing to finally launch a touchscreen version of its Mac computer, reversing course on a stance that dates back to co-founder Steve Jobs.

The company is readying a revamped MacBook Pro with a touch display for late 2026 or early 2027, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Sorry but no thanks, the smudges would drive me insane.

Amateur level.

Whoosh

I don't understand the point of this, what's the point of iPads then?

Touch screens on a PC/Laptop is such a stupid gimmick.

Fine on a "Laptop" like a MS surface that has dedicated pen support.

Would make sense if the keyboard can flip away and it has drawing / pen support. That would be cool. But Apple still need to see how it is done before they can do it better.

Love that the hole punch is a feature.

I've had a touch screen Dell - was the most useless feature ever. It feels so bloody awkward to reach out to the screen on a typical desk setup.

I had one as well, it was soo slow and uncomfortable to use the touchscreen, so much faster and convenient to use the keyboard/touchpad/mouse.

We'll see how Apple handles the gorilla arm.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

More likely to see the iPad Pro range get a full blown MacOS interface when docked or something to that effect.

Or full support for MacOS apps.

Came here to say exactly this! My ageing XPS 15 has a touch screen that is never used.

Apple fanboys will lap this up, because it's Apple. Saying this as an Apple user since 2006.
