MacOS Monterey

Updated to 12.3 last night and everything seems to be smooth sailing so far

Same here. Universal Control is very cool...I don't have a use for it myself other than copying files from iPad to Mac from time to time, but can see how it can increase efficiency for other users.

It was showing last night but it's gone

I think I'm being blocked by organisational policies ( recently had Jamf imposed on my machine)

They've disabled the ability to unlock using the Apple Watch too.

Bugger

Sorry, I used up the one update that was available for Port Elizabeth yesterday.

Today it's your turn, it seems. I found battery life to be slightly better on the new update but that may be a seat-of-pants feeling
Funny enough one of the things I tried was a VPN to the US but that didn't work, so sleep easy, it wasn't your fault :p

Since the update my Xbox Series controller does not work in macOS. This sucks balls.

Posting this on the Monterey thread because I'm still on Monterey 12.6.1, but I suppose it is relevant to MacOS in general too.

I love MacOS and will not go back to Windows easily...but every now and then I get annoyed by small quirks of MacOS.

Specifically, say you have a folder full of images in Windows. To preview all of them, you only double click on any image, and by scrolling left or right you scroll through all of the images in Preview.

In MacOS, you have to select all the images, then right click and choose "Quick Look" to achieve the same (or is there perhaps another way?)

Now I know it is two completely different operating systems and there will be differences...I don't have any gripes with the extra click or two to do this in MacOS - but what annoys me, is that 90% of the time Quick Look works, and then randomly on any given day decides to display thumbnails instead of the full image in Preview, without me changing anything (unless I'm doing something wrong without realising it?)

Relaunching Finder solves the problem, but I am wondering what could be the cause of this - if anyone knows, feel free to share. Also, I hope quirks like these (or at least this one specifically) have been eliminated in Ventura.

Just press space.

And then left and right.

Never experienced the other problem. Is this maybe some super low end machine that runs out of juice?

Ah thanks…I was hoping there’s an easier way!

No it’s an M1 MBA…must say I’ve never had this issue on Big Sur or earlier versions of Monterey…but Monterey 12.5 and 12.6 in general has been a bit icky for me.

Just very curious why this happens every now and then, will see how things go on Ventura.
