My M4 MBP finally updated itself to 26 ( security policies kept it on 18) - not sure what all the fuss is about - runs fine, looks a bit different but I hardly notice (I tend to actually use the thing for work not sit and look at the shading and roundness of window borders….)

Is it safe, yes. I kept a 2012 15 inch rMBP plugged in constantly for >10 years and did not have issues.

Do you have yours set to 85% charge limit?

My 2012 machine was at 100% for about 10 years.

This one is set to whatever fancy takes, it used to be 85% or 80%, sometimes 60%.
