macOS Tahoe (macOS 26)

Lol, this should have been a thing in High Sierra and they are only bringing it out now?

Guess they made enough money from MB battery replacements.

Limiting a battery to 80% charge? 100% yes it does increase the longevity of the battery.
Seems placebo.
I now have two years of data with my ‌iPhone‌ limited to an 80 percent charge, and I don't think it's been worth it. My coworker who also has a 16 Pro Max did not have an 80 percent charge limit set, and his battery capacity is 96 percent with 308 charge cycles.

Maybe setting an 80 percent limit improves battery health over a longer period of time, but over a one-year period, the results have been disappointing. Setting charging to a 90 or 95 percent might make more sense.

And Windows is any different?

Please show me a 10 and 13 year old machine with official support for the latest version of Windows? If I was allowed to swear here I'd say you are ****ing laughable.

meet one of my children, his name is frankenstein.
he is 11 now - running w10 (10, simply because i did not want 11).
can also boot into windows10 installed on external usb drive.
so either dual boot via bootcamp, or external boot via windows installed on usb drive

Pleased to meet Frankenstein. But this wasn't what I was referring to.

But also, that MacBook won't support Windows 11 either. Officially it's too old.

So I updated my iPhone 16 Pro and iPad Air to iOS 26.3.1 yesterday. Not that impressed with the visuals of either versions. I'm getting notifications to update my iMac M3 to allow certain apps to sync correctly between devices. Not sure I want to ruin Sequoia's comfortable look and feel.

What's the general consensus on MacOS 26.3.1?

I'm running 26.3.1 since Day one & for me needs it is fine.

No hangs or compatibility breaks.

Visuals are fine for me.

As always YMMV.
I'll fiddle around over the next few days and see if there are any hiccups. glad to hear your upgrade is running smoothly.

Huge downloads. Almost everything updated with no issue, so far.

Nice the charge limit works great. Uninstalled Aldente. Another app sherlocked.

Still running Sonoma. I see there is a security update out today.

Use Al Dente for keeping the battery charged around 67%

This device is running plugged in 99% of the time.

Glad I could uninstall Aldente. Never understood why it updated almost every month for a simple battery app. Madness.
