Johannesburg - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is reportedly investigating Transport Minister Dipuo Peters for alleged improper conduct involving more than R500m in traffic fines and licence renewal fees.

Madonsela’s probe is a result of a letter in which Peters demanded that then acting head of Road Traffic Management Corporation Collins Letsoalo hand over R507m collected by the agency since September last year, the

reported.

Letsoalo refused to hand over the amount because he said it would be in breach of the Public Finance Management Act.

The Times said that correspondence between the minister and Letsoalo showed that Peters wanted the money to pay Tasima, the consortium at the centre of the multibillion-rand e-Natis contract.

Tasima is being investigated by the Hawks for allegedly billing the department millions of rands for work not done.

A day after refusing to pay Peters the money, Letsoalo was removed from his position.

Is there actually anybody in this government who actually know how to do their jobs within the law and or regulations pertaining to their positions?

I'm so sick of all this *******. If you open a news paper or a news/forum its all you see......

yea.. not even funny anymore.

Madonsela does her job. Quite impressive considering that she guns for pretty much everyone (uh well, ANC members are not really sophisticated targets). Eventually she will rock the wrong boat and will need to disappear before she digs up bigger problems

Soon she will be the one getting probed, probably for Tax Evasion, Sex Scandal, Corruption etc. (anything that is a hot topic at that moment).

The entire upper echelon of government is corrupt. But we know that already, no need for the PP to get on their trail. Visit any govt dept and you will find corruption, sometimes blatant, sometimes quite open and they dare you to do anything about it

Last year, to quote for a fairly small (R 300k) Govt Tender, I had to get a tax clearance cert to verify that I was squeaky clean. I was invited to the final interview with the Director and his 2 cohorts and told that I was one of 3 to be selected. But, the Civil Servant said, what will you do for us personally to make sure you get the contract. I got up and walked out, to find him hurrying out after me to the lift, saying "not a word to anyone". As I got in the car, I replied, yes, all except for the Sunday Times and all has been recorded on my phone.
