Magmaw

AFAIK VBM is extremely hard to get hold of. it was made by a guild for use within the guild only and its on their FTP site , i got a link to a version of it being updated somewhere. unless u got one ? , as getting it is a pain in the arse!

Not true. According to this post on their guild forums its available to everyone.

Our guild officially started raiding last night and we downed Magmaw after many tries.

We used the tactic of having 1 hunter at ranged, while rest of the raid remains in melee range. This makes handling the adds much easier.

The only problem we had is that after the exposed head phase ended, Magmaw would sometime randomly 1-shot someone in melee range, so the raid had to run in/out of melee range during that phase.

Magmaw trash was pretty challenging too :)

He doesnt randomly oneshot some1, he does a type of head bud when he comes off the spike:) This hits anyone in melee range so they jus need to w8 like 2 secs before charging in.

Which is why I linked to the official thread, while that mirror was down my link is a good alternative at least, at the time of that post.
 
Ok so out of the 2 groups we had doing magmaw last night we put the best in one group and as some people didnt pitch only that group went. And here I was thinking they would down him:(
Apparently the lowest they got was 70%. 1 healer was still oblivious to flame pillar and the parasites and dps that were doing 10k on tuesday were doing between 6-7k.

Now I came out with a rading structure where the strongest/best players are in the top group and the rest in the lower. Every week the idea is to compare groups and move the stronger players up and the weak links down. This to me is the most fair way of handling our groups while still making sure the guild sees progress. Guess they showed me a big F U. So...any horde raiding guilds recruiting? lol
 
Aw man sorry to hear that :(

We cleared 8 of the farm bosses last night, most with 2 healers, including Magmaw, 2 healers, 2 tanks, 6dps. Even had world 8th Resto on Hafus & 15th on Magmaw :) Can't wait for my buffs :)
Cool thing is we also had 10 trash BOE's drop. Gold bank gold ftw :)

Yeah was really dissapointed with their progress or rather lack thereof. Took myself out of the group as only one tank is needed in the hopes that more dps would help them get it done alas it backfired. So now I'm thinking of spending all my whored up gold to kit out my mage and show the panzy arcane/frost mages in the guild what true mage dps is:D Fire ftw
 
2 tanks, 3 healers.

Like mentioned, you have a single ranged dps standing at 30yds away to trigger the Pillar away from the rest of the raid.

As soon as the first tank is picked up (he can still dps the head and hit cooldowns during this), have the second tank immediately taunt the body to prevent any 1-shots after the head phase.

Rinse and repeat.
 
Woot, just want to say our First Group Called "Snakes" In guild Braaivleis downed Magmaw yesterday.
