The technical staff at Iburst really make me wonder. I have chosen to use their services and now find it was a decision that I am regretting. This problem has to do with the way they have chosen to combat spam.

If you are a client of theirs and are trying to send them email, like in my case proof of electronic payment, you will most likely be told you are a spammer and your mail will be refused.

Ibust technical staff have chosen to use APEWS as one of their sorbs lists and they have effectively cut off the whole of South Africa. If APEWS receive any spam reports, they simply block the entire subnet. Any attempts to contact APEWS and ask for your host or subnet to be removed from the blacklist will be treated as spam and will further their resolve to keep it blacklisted.

My question is, how can a business like Iburst (particularly an ISP) make such stupid choices without first looking at the facts? A simple Google query will show that half the world hates that list because of their closed minded attitude.

The bottom line: If you live in SA, Iburst think you are a spammer. Use gmail or something if you want to talk to them electronically, alternatively use a fax.

Unfortunately, most of us using the iBurst network have come to the conclusion that the network personnel have none or very little IT skills as reflected in most of the posts on this forum.

Have a look at the link below it might assist you to find a workaround

Also, call and demand that they unblock your private SMTP if you have one. I've yet to be affected by any of their problems and I refuse to ever tie my email to an ISP ever.

so they think they have a 100% success rate...

better to have 1% to 3% spam coming through than blocking legitimate emails 100%...
