Mail Proxy for Ubuntu 10.10

Hi guys,

Can someone recommend a good mail proxy for ubuntu. I currently got squid on the machine but it seems it won't work with my thunderbird so only assuming I need a proxy that handles mail requests.

Googling suggests using postfix but, to me, that looks more like a server than just a pure proxy.

nginx possibly. never used the mail proxy part, but the web server is ace.
