Monitor shopping - looking for opinions

Currently using a 24inch 1080p at 75Hz, looking to upgrade to high refresh 1440p 27 inches which seems to be a recommended sweet spot.
Hoping someone has some practical experience on what works best. I'm not a super serious gamer but like to find a good balance between performance and visual quality where possible. Thoughts and opinions welcome.

I would buy once, cry once.

Having walked the road of getting a VA panel as well as an IPS, an OLED just blows them out of the water.
There's no going back once you've seen the difference.

Assuming money was no object... I've checked, even the cheapest ones are double my budget. I can't justify spending that.

Luckily I've never seen the difference so I have no idea what I'm missing.
 
LG 27UL500. 27” 4K around R4500 to R5k.
 
The 200hz mini-led from Woot coming next month looks pretty good with 1152 dimming zones, preorder is the same price as the current 180hz R5799
Double the dimming zones vs the 180hz.


If you watch or play HDR content then the mini-led with local dimming improves the experience a decent amount, I would say it's worth the extra 2K over the other Wootvision.
BUT on desktop browsing etc... you will likely keep local dimming off so it loses it's usefulness if you don't use those features.

Yeah, that's one reason why I'm on the fence about getting a proper HDR monitor. I'm not sure whether it's worth the effort since I use my PC just for general desktop stuff a good chunk of the time.

Then IPS is good enough.

Just note the Wootware screen has an ass stand. So maybe a monitor arm would not be a bad idea.

All good so far and I don't see the immediate need to upgrade for a good few years.

I don't like the el-cheapo base. I guess they had to cut on costs somewhere.

Luckily I use a monitor mounting arm anyways so that doesn't affect me.
