EASTERN CAPE - Patricia Nobantu Xaki (58) and Victoria Noyolo (54) were convicted and sentenced by Mthatha Specialised Commercial Crime Court on 23 September 2021 for charges of theft.

In October 2012, a complaint was lodged by the Department of Justice regarding the fraudulent activities conducted by the Department employees (Admin Clerks) at the Mthatha Magistrate Court. The employees created fraudulent maintenance ghost files for non-existing people and made payment of maintenance to the value of R700, 000 for their personal gain.

Slap on the wrist. Crime pays in Mthata:

Steal R700 000
Accused No 1 pays fine of R6000
Accused No 2 pays fine of R15000
Both keep their jobs.

But a drunk witness who admits he was paid to lie gets two farm workers over a decade in jail

SA's justice system is failing fast.

Did they have to pay back the stolen loot? Or was this a profit of epic proportions, with a slap on the wrist to make it look good?

This is the sentence in the report. Says nothing about paying anything back and the case has dragged on for nine years:

Xaki was sentenced to pay R6000 or undergo (3) months imprisonment. In addition she was sentenced to five years imprisonment wholly suspended on condition that she does not commit theft during the period of suspension. Mtatambi on the hand was sentenced to pay R15 000 or to undergo six months imprisonment wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused does not commit theft during the period of suspension.

Reading this, it looks like the R15000 sentence doesn't even have to be paid as it is a suspended sentence...

Where did you read that they are keeping their jobs?

No mention of them being fired.

I assume you are talking about the Coligny murders here. The Supreme Court of Appeal overturned the conviction last year.

Yes, after the men were wrongly convicted and spent time in jail on the hearsay of a drunk that even admitted he was paid to lie.

But these two women from Mthata don't spend a day in jail and get suspended sentences 9 years later...

That does not mean they are still working as clerks. I believe that they were dismissed. It is just common sense.

After the conviction, they were released on bail pending the appeal. They the conviction was overturned and they were acquitted. There is no way you can compare murder with theft.
Two of the accused pleaded guilty and there was most likely mitigated factors that played a big role in their sentencing. Believe it or not, a court does not always send people to jail, there are other options available.
The 3rd accused is awaiting trial.

Last time I went through the rubbish was piled on the pavements.

I actually timed a trip so I would get through that cesspit before 7am so I wouldn't have to deal with the traffic on the N2 which can end up with hours long traffic jams because its such a fsck up.

Evidence please.

You clearly have not met The Champ. He is the interference runner for the ANC and EFF as well the sycophant for Julius Seizure and never supplies substantiation to questions, preferring to fob off questions facetiously.
