Hi Guys,

So im in the process of getting me a SEAT Cupra TDi. Its a 2007 model so the warranty and maintenance plan are over.

So im wondering what the best route is? Is there anyway i can extend the plans from VW?

As i see getting a maintenance plan from places like Motorite its almost R30 000 for the maintenance plan.

Any advice please?
 
Unfortunately once the factory plan has run its course you can't extend it. Maintenance shouldn't be hellishly expensive, though - I'd suggest you rather look at an extended warranty. That'll give you a bit of a cushion if a turbo decides to disintegrate.

If you do get the car, please, pretty please only use 50ppm diesel. ;)
 
Soz mate, not too sure where you can get the plan extended. Can't you rather look into getting one that is still under warranty. Maybe add the extra price that you would have paid for the maintenance plan on the list price of a newer one?

Turbo and intercooler were just replaced :) Who could i speak to about extending the warranty?
I promise to only use 50ppm ;)

It's getting harder and harder to find these cars, I wont settle for anything else. But yep, finding a low km that still has a maintenance plan is extremely difficult.

I am not too sure if I would personally buy into something that already had issue with it's turbo and intercooler. You sure you can't wait for THAT deal thats gonna win you over?

It depends - there's another way of looking at it...

Turbo failures are more often than not caused by people being less than kind to their cars. Buying a car that hasn't popped its turbo doesn't necessarily mean that it's not on the verge of going bang. Buying one like we're discussing here, you are starting with a near-clean slate & you shouldn't have any issues if you show the new turbo a little mechanical sympathy...

Good plan!

As enigma suggested, speak to the F&I guy at the dealership with respect to extended warranty. Budget on a couple of thousand every 15000 for servicing, and take the extended warranty rather than forking out a fortune on a Maintenace plan which you probably won't need any way.

Perfect. Although I'ts a private sale. So I'll go for the warranty.

Dude, just think about it. If he already blew one turbo, what hasnt he done to the new one already and other parts of the car. I would hesitate, but hey it's not my money... :)

He didn't blow it, was on it's way out. Those Cupra turbos are so unpredictable.

New one was fitted a few days ago :)
